Coronavirus: what happens next!

I think you read it wrong.

Well going to and from work today I’m visiting shops to get as much of what I need to keep myself busy if the lunacy extends to being told we can’t go out. Although I imagine going to work will be exempt, or we may well become a basket case of a country, like some others.

Interestingly yesterday one of the govt experts said we shouldn’t comparing ourselves to Italy. The first piece of anything half way sensible from a briefing that I’ve heard in days and I imagine it will be the last for a while. It does seem to have been lost by the BBC from it’s website, probably not “on message”. Today will be more flap and spin.

I saw a local rag article yesterday where someone had seen an Apache flying around and was “concerned”. They were about 15 miles from Middle Wallop…

I would suggest that until we can prove otherwise (maybe 4 weeks away at least?), better to be safe than sorry & continue to look at such comparisons?

For example, London seems to have a higher rates of Covid19 compared to other UK areas / cities (Lombardy node situation). We have also seen exactly the same behaviour as in Italy (& Spain) when schools closed down early, people decided to clear off for a holiday break / visit holiday properties / head off in a caravan (Snowdonia, Peak District, seaside towns, etc). Consequently, the virus spread significantly quicker in those areas & subsequently over-loaded local health resources.

Lockdown can’t soon enough; it won’t prevent essential shopping trips (but why the heck are people buying new clothes, etc, when they should be avoiding non-essential activities & staying at home?!) or basic exercise outside. It will stop the morons who are travelling wherever they want to, to do whatever they want. These idiots are spreading virus, they are (or will be) the cause of fatalities.

Incidentally, I used to be a military NBC warfare officer (nuclear, biological & chemical) on some sqns. The one that REALLY frightened me was the biological threat - generally impossible to see or detect until it was too late - just like Covid19. Nuclear, well, oh dear. Chemical - we had a lot of good kit & trg but expected a high percentage of casualties for any first use of chemical agent. Then, for any subsequent use, casualties would be less - as the numpties who hadn’t done things properly the first time were dead = good teaching vehicle to the survivors!!

It could be said that right now, we are in that position concerning the morons - “Nah, we can ignore the guidance, let’s go & mingle.” The trouble is, the sensible people who are suffering (dying!) as well as the morons.

Authorities, local gov, funeral providers, etc now looking at what they can do to prep for a (worst case scenario) of ~75,000 deaths in London alone.

Absolutely no reason to look at Italy…

My money says lockdown from midnight tonight.

With what?

Human decency.

Would the govt have to force you?

I deal with the public every day, human decency isn’t going to make people do as they are told and with only 125,000 cops in the country we sure as hell cant do it by force.

A few county lines & related gangs might have that in mind - national lockdown = turf wars + far less people on the street. The Royal Mail will be getting busier in that respect I think.

Sqns to be shut until the 31 Aug 20 at the earliest…
Some people will now be totally lost

Yet again, the announcement contains drivel.

How exactly will “many of us know” that Dawn convened a meeting of the command board? It isn’t advertised anywhere and this is the first detail we’re seeing. Either someone, somewhere is not passing on info or it isn’t being sent in the first place.

It uses acronyms that aren’t explained anywhere. PAR?

Talks about “Associated Celebration of Air Cadets”. Uhh, what? What is that?

“Decision to cease collection of subs for Apr-Jun stands”. Why is this the first we’re hearing of it? How can it stand? How can you say activity is cancelled until September and charge people subs for July and August? So what if you have to look at financial implications, you can’t mandate charging for something you’re not providing. If people want to continue to pay then fine but you cannot charge.

“Key objective over coming months is to communicate and engage with staff, CFAV and cadets to ensure they remain motivated towards the organisation and return” :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:. Pray tell, what exactly can you do to make this happen now that wasn’t possible over the past 8+ years?

I’ve not been as angry at reading an announcement like that since, oooh, 2 weeks ago with the gliders being sold.

Just be grateful something has come down from the top…

COS email was better last week as it was bullet points. It took me an age to read and digest this one.

Isn’t that big Wing Commanders drinking session, I mean dinner?

I can just see it now “Dear Parent please cancel your standing order, then restart it 2 months before we reopen”

*Yes I know that’s a harsh joke and no I don’t really mean it before people start whinging!

I believe that’s a civil service review acronym thing. If you need to know it, you’ll know what it is, kinda thing.
