I’m thoroughly enjoying the comments on the RAFAC Facebook Post… this will make up for cinema closures.
Pass me the popcorn.

Why did they not just disable comments?
They like using social media, doesn’t mean they’re any good at it.
I completely understand why it’s been put out on social media, but as someone who has email notifications set up, but wouldn’t obviously get anything from just a routine RAFAC facebook post, it allows the staff to be in the know as soon as the post was made public. That way, we can, as a staff team, pass the message onto cadets officially without them attempting to pass the message between themselves, and we can also add to and control the squadron specific information that has gone out, including if we need to pass on the message if we found out any of our cadets or staff team were self isolating as a precaution and warning to cadets and parents too.
Air raid warnings don’t get dropped through the CoC, and this is of similar urgency.
Facebook, Twitter etc… is absolutely fine for this kind of stuff. No problems with it at all.

To take note, ready to discipline those who are “out of line” in a public forum?
But this isn’t an instant reaction, air raid warning. This is HQAC taking 24 hours after the government issued the ‘latest advice’ to make a decision and then making a compete and utter mess of delivering the message.
All those decrying the non-use of the CoC, you’d think they had never experienced how cruddy our chain of command actually is. This info could have been trying to make its way down since yesterday
As for getting a heads-up on this announcement, I don’t see that as a valid argument. It would allow me to say “yes, I heard” but provide no further information. We might as well tell everybody at the same time and it really shouldn’t matter whether I hear it first form staff or cadets.
And I don’t get the whole “yes, we’ll send it down via the CoC…” to a bunch of volunteers who might not be online to forward it…
We all know perfectly well that emails can go to everybody in the Corps. Why would that be so hard to do in this instance?
Sorry this shouldn’t have come out via SM. They bang on about only using official emails etc. One of the sqn staff who use SM emailed me to say this has happened.
Other than that at least we know and can now relax.
“all air cadet face to face activity is suspended”
If we promise to keep our backs turned, does that mean we can carry on parading?
COS email at 1609 hrs.
Same text as Sharepoint announcement & RAFAC Facebook post.
All they needed to do was type “all Bader” and send before the Facebook Message went out.
Comment of the century on the Facebook post.
“Does this include parade nights?”
Honestly you couldn’t make it up
I think they did their best to push it via as many channels as possible at once. Facebook just happened to be a bit quicker.
My concerns are more the change in advice taking so long and then the lack of clarity in the message.
Is there a review period, if yes, what, when should we plan for events or should we cancel everything for 2020 etc. Ambiguity is not good.
But at least we now have a decision, enjoy your time off people. Get your admin prepped for stuff in the summer!
I agree. I’ve got some staff only courses over summer which I know are currently off but for general life planning purposes it would be good to know when they are going to review the situation.
Currently I can’t see how they can talk about a review given the chaos that’s been created by the media in all its manifestations and the panic across Europe., effectively forcing govt knee jerk decisions.
Boris has been talking about a “wartime govt”, except in a war (going from history and talking to my parents) there isn’t anyone forcing the govt’s hand except the enemy and the news is to some extent controlled.
Screw admin, I’m more interested in what I can use all these weekends for… I’m already planning personal paddling / biking / walking trips!
For the avoidance of doubt (and for @Farmerdan in particular) this does not apply to CCF(RAF) training on school premises which remains the responsibility of the head; but HQAC will not support training off site e.g. with resources, staff etc. i.e. will not approve a TAF.
(That’s from a reliable source.)
