We’ve got staff members in the emergency services, over 70s and I personally live with my in-laws (over 70 and susceptible) so I’m a little unsure how things might play out.
Since we got the shiny Portal and now have 96% using it (4% turn up when they feel like it = Sports) I’m more than happy to get rid of the Facebook groups…But i’m not the OC I’m more than happy to get the training program on Portal but my request for access has fell upon deaf ears as its our “Training Officer’s” job to put that on
Back on mars…I mean topic.
As a staff team we have been messaging our group with our concerns and the OC has said as long as he has a staff team to parade then the night will go ahead. We all know that we are not obligated to turn up if we have worries and concerns about our health, and up to now we are happy to parade…just have to see what the numbers of Cadets are like over the next couple of parade nights until we hear otherwise from Le “MOD” or Ze “Twitter Queen”
This is where my unit is at the moment, we have however cancelled our Committee Meeting as they are all over a thousand years old and it would be an unnecessary risk.
IIRC, the instruction was that upon the outbreak of hostilities, the Training branch of the RAFVR was to be disbanded.
After closing the Sqn, and returning the service rifles to the nearest MOD establishment!
Watching the tumble weeds rolling across my garden at the moment. Very surprised that there has been no communication (one way or the other) as yet.
The silence from HQAC is deafening and incredibly frustrating. Compare the direction provided by other youth organisations with the lack of clarity from our HQ and/or the MOD.
The Scouts had a clear statement on their website yesterday.
The Guides had a clear statement on their Facebook page yesterday.
The Sea Cadets had a clear statement on their Facebook page today.
Army Cadets??? Air Cadets??? I’m 99% sure that our unit will get closed today or tomorrow, but that should done in a consistent, coordinated way rather than just on the OC’s interpretation of UK guidance and gut feel.
Wait until 5 to 10 minutes before tonight’s parade nights…
it would be at least useful to have a public facing annoucement from HQAC to point Cadets and parents at.
i don’t mind either way, open or closed but explain the decision (particularly as so many others have closed)
Brilliant use of the CoC right there though
Seen from Facebook before email or SharePoint once again…
I’d have beaten you if I didn’t crop mine!
As long as the formal notice is quick via email I don’t have a great problem with them pumping out a notice like this - call it exigent circumstances.
I’d get both at the same time…
At least we know.
…though my Adj is saying not to publish anything on our sqn’s fb yet because it’s not official.
Some sense at last.
It is exactly the sort of information that should not be left to dribble down through the crevices of the chain of command.
Leave that route for the detailed analysis, justification, apology or whatever; not the initial FLASH message!
Three things struck me:
- Well done for not saying “paused”
- Please define “in due course” as CoC haven’t yet been briefed
- Who/what is Harley Benton and is it safe for work… #askingforafriend
That is one unhappy comment thread!
It’s on the HQAC page on Sharepoint now.
