Boris has just made the point that they’re not enforcing things as we’re a mature country and should take the advice they are giving and act accordingly to protect the NHS and those who are vulnerable. I wonder if HQAC will actually issue an order or expect its people to just stop parading.
We as an organisation are in no way essential.
Due to underlying medical conditions I will be spending tonight debating with myself whether I should continue attending for the next few weeks/months.
Going to have an adult conversation with my staff as well on what they think we should do. I’m 50/50 on shutting the doors for a while.
‘No mass gatherings’
‘Limit social interaction’
Schools: stay open.
This doesn’t really add up for me - schools are mass gatherings of sometimes over 1000 people at once where social interaction is the primary theme. Why are they not shutting schools?
It depends whether we are regarded as a social gathering or something else.
As for schools yes they are a mass gathering but are essential. If schools were to shut it would need to be planned and not just closed.
To clarify. We have already HAD instructions.
If someone Ill attends, effectively close.
What I want is 1 to 2 more parade evenings BEFORE we have to.
So I can use the staff team to brief the cadets and get stuff online.
Else doing it fully remotely is a massive pain.
Probably because school chlidren are mostly asymptomatic and the largest possible single group of vectors - let them have it in schools and avoid everything else outside, have people at home avoid everyone else, then you build the herd immunity.
I’m voting for sending kids to school. And keeping them there. Stop sending them home to parents every evening. Genuinely, I don’t mind. At all.
But please dont make me stay at home with them for 2 months. I have done nothing wrong!!!
Because she indoors has a cough and a runny nose…I’m now in isolation for 14days…shes a liability!
I’ve just been asked to leave Fairbourne as my wife, at home, almost certainly has it.
Stay at Fairbourne = food poisoning
Go home = Coronavirus
Not sure which I would choose to be fair
I knew it would be @Baldrick who would bring the Corps down… just didnt think it would be via biological warfare!
My bets would have been on the equality act.
Unfortunately I have had to self isolate as I had symptoms about 2 weeks ago, it was glandular fever but due to the refusal to test people I’ve had to leave school and am unable to work on several courseworks as a result.
The media has blown this out of proportion and I have begun to see the effects.
I really don’t think it has been blown out of proportion - look at Italy. Then again, I don’t spend all day watching the news so I have no idea what they’ve been claiming is going on.
I’m going to social distancing now as I’m asthmatic. I’ll be working from home but still doing cadets for now. Main difference being I don’t want to spend money on travel and it’s an excuse to avoid the tube
West Scotland wing Facebook
All,
the UK Government has now issued instruction that “everyone in the UK should now avoid ‘non-essential’ travel”.
We have been awaiting direction from the Air Cadet Management Board which met today between 2pm - 4pm, but this latest government advice has come AFTER that meeting concluded.
While we await the ACMB direction, which may now need to be updated, then all SQUADRONS WHO WERE INTENDING TO PARADE ON EITHER 16 OR 17 MARCH 20 ARE TO STAND DOWN. WSW RAFAC PERSONNEL ARE NOT TO TRAVEL TO ATC ACTIVITY OF ANY TYPE ON 16 AND 17 MARCH
Instructions regarding Sqn activities, including parade nights, after 17 March will be guided by the ACMB / Government advice
regards
Seems straight forward enough sqns are shut…
In west Scotland wing… via face book.
As this is at the last minute and specific to the wing, surely responsible staff will need to break the mandate to travel to units which are stood down so as to inform and turn away anybody who shows up as expected.
I wouldn’t be surprised if comms came out tonight telling all units to stand down
I’m hearing rumblings that one of the southern regions has already done it.
