Its sad that it’s like this really. But i will say i have probably found this place to be one of the most helpful places with people like yourself and doesn’t make you afraid to ask a question. Where is asking a question directly to whoever it may be in wing etc can result in a telling off. So definitely found this and majority of people on here very helpful with various things.
On hindsight l think I over revised and put too much pressure on myself but that’s me.
Search Wing Boards on SharePoint l found the advice from Trent Wing very useful

when did you have your board and was it commission or snco?
Which part of the board interview did you struggle with most and dk you think others struggle with?
have you had your regional yet?
My Wing Board was in April, still waiting to hear on regional.
How long does it take for them to make a decision??!
Ps good luck
After my regional it was about 4 hrs for the Wing Co to give me a call with the news .
About anything? Is that a trick question?
Took the best part of a week for me to find out I passed. It’s largely down to your regional staff and OC Wing, so if either side are slow it could take a while.
From memory mine was about 2 weeks (but I did OASC). The board report was dated a couple of days after OASC but it took time to be posted out.
That also included the uniform kitting paperwork.
No notification from Wing though. And I can’t remember how long it took to update on SMS, that was pre Volunteer Portal and Workflows.
It should be quicker now it’s Region Boards and VP!
What is the pass rate these days?
Back in my day …turning up pretty much guaranteed a pass!
…but we never had to do a wing board …for VGS was just the final (region?) one.
It seems a little bipolar, from what I’ve seen some people attempt it and manage to fail it 2 or 3 times, but those of us that do pass tend to pass quite comfortably above the required grade.
Surely by fail #2 the individual and their chain of command needs to wonder how suitable they are…
Additionally to this comment when people have failed the boardings firstly is it wing or regional most fail on and which part of their board do they fail on. Is there a certain part that is more common than i
others.
From what I have seen it’s usually at Region and due to a lack of prep, especially on RAF subjects. Recent ex cadets seem to trip up on this. They know the organisation but haven’t kept up with what the parent service is doing.
We’re now doing a bit more mentoring of applicants, which we used to do when it was OASC. Seems to be helping.
Although I am not disagreeing with what you are saying in the sense of prep work etc. It would be nice to know how much focus Wing/Regions are putting on the parent service. Yes you should know your basics which if you have done 1st class cadet training you are pretty much there in any case however we are an uniformed youth organisation, the focus should be on safeguarding and RAFAC not the RAF, unless they don’t know the difference between a helicopter and a fast jet does it really matter if you can name all the different groups. If you know the structure of 22 Group and Chief Of The Air Staff with a rough idea of some ops and what some aircraft can do i.e. Eurofighter Typhoon on Quick Reaction Alert. Is there a need for anything else? Both my Wing & Regional boards I was asked the same question which was to name an RAF Aircraft and role, where it sat Group wise and name an overseas base and current operation. Luckily Op shader helps you out there as you can name it all off one aircraft just adding in the Group and “home base”
I appear to be a leader of admin.
Just been advised that my Regional Board is in September.
Any pointers or advice on what to expect.
Northern Region. I have heard that the structure of the interview can vary from region to region.
Thanks in advance
The interview process should be the same in what ever Region you are, but that shows how this organisation operates
