CI "Membership Cards"

This happened to me on annual camp at Cosford some years ago I was a driver due to my age and license and a range officer for the No 8 as a CI I was issued a red pass so had to be escorted even though the camp com asked for it to be changed. It was often done by cadets but on the range day I ended up being escorted by a 16 year old cadet NCO while I collected weapons and amo from the Armory. Set up both the ranges on the airfield side and another cadet escorted me while I cleared the ranges and returned the weapons to the Armory. For those of us us with a humor that enjoys farce this was quite delicious. Though I have since refused to repeat the experience, well who wouldnā€™t?

When I was a CGI at Kinloss I had to apply for contractorā€™s MOD pass.

MOD 90s for CS staff is only allowed if the CS staff needs to visit more than 1or 2 mod sites a month if they do then they can apply for a CS MOD90 otherwise they get an MOD contractors pass but with a green colour to advise they are staff

And who checks :man_shrugging:t2: Fine CV has stopped visits but prior to thatā€¦

Just get LM to sign to say you do

In my area of CS itā€™s exactly that, LM approval.

Iā€™m intrigued by this ā€œCadets escorting CIā€ business.

Our local station wonā€™t allow Cadets on unescorted and Iā€™ve been requested to attend the guard room to pick up a late arriving Cadet to shooting as the GR wonā€™t let them walk in unescorted

Yes strikes me as nonsenseā€¦ either guard service not understanding or just a long yarn on here.

Wont be an issue soon as all CIs will have BPSS complete.
Would make logical next step to issue all CFAVs a Mod 90 at that point.

I never did the escorting CIs bit (aside from to simply offer directions) but growing up my sqn spent a lot of time at Linton. Theyā€™d readily allow cadets on the station with just their 3822.

Ummm.

Iā€™ve been given an escorted pass even though I have SC so donā€™t think BPSS will make a blind bit of difference.

Depends on the station/ site also.

I believe bpss is min for mod90. Unless that has changed to sc since I last looked.

Mod90 would.solve most those issues expect at specific sites.

Oh without a doubt. I just donā€™t see them being issued to CIs any time soon.

I believe it has. All uniformed CFAV need a SC to hold a MoD90

Was the SC required for Mod 90, or was it for a different reason?

I never looked as in had it all squared away anyway.

The SC has always been required for the mod90. We just never put all our holders through it for some reason. Think what it letā€™s you access unescorted.

Sure.
Off to the acp I go to read up.

Its something I have never had to worry about personally as had SC from the get go.

I dated the station commanderā€™s daughter there for about a year when I was a cadet so was a regular feature. The gate staff were a bit surprised the first time i arrived in uniform for my GS.

Which squadron were you?

Iā€™ll answer via PM to protect my secret identity

Iā€™ll promise not to share it

Did you miss the (probably) dozens of threads and (quite likely) hundreds of posts and comments about this very topic? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
