This would 100% be my biggest concern.
Also notifying us in November (which still hasn’t been completed) is too late. Most Squadrons plan 3 months ahead.

most Squadrons are chastised for not planning ahead by the CoC and yet the CoC are now offering less than a months notice of a major changing to that planning…
Easily.
After all we are told to do this as part of OIC and SCC!
The info from @themajor Wing and from what people have said the responseiss on sharepoint, seems to me to make good sense.
Will have a nosey this evening when back on an actual device which our sharepoint allows!
I reserve judgement to moan if the response is not as described!
This is eminently sensible and it is what I would normally do when I was OC Sqn.
23 day leave, 12 days of your holiday entitlement? Personally I feel that this is excessive especially when schools will be starting back on 4 Jan. Many CFAVa will only have very limited time off of even rostered to work over the holiday period. Time off from the corps may not be the same “Break” that our employed staff will be getting.
The wider RAF are taking this extended period of time also, so presume that is where this is driven from. Trust me, having the Other Half under feet for an extended time is something I want to appeal against
Whilst I’m not against the RAFAC taking the same time period off, what is frustrating is the lack of communication and the short-notice. We’ve still not had anything from our Wing about an extended break, training programs are/were planned yet the RAF knew about this weeks ago so if we were going to be told to follow suit, why are we only finding out about it now.
We’ve had no Comms about this or the proposed regions/wings/CCF reorg.
If you are having to take as holiday…
I’m in the wrong job, I’m in work up to and including the 24th returning on 4 Jan and enforced use of 3 days leave for the middle where the “office” is closed.
Pretty much same here. I’ve got a couple of spare days off though so I’ll get a day each side
Pretty much the same here.
Got a get a public sector job!
I just don’t see how that’s something they can police.
For activities that need approval, sure. But a parade night? How do they know?
Post action, parade night register filing.
i have this too and it infuriates me no end.
i wouldn’t mind so much if it were 3 days every year so then it would be 22 days holiday plus Bank holiday and Christmas break, but some years its it four days
Which would require a lot of admin work to catch and can be countered with a simple “what shutdown? I didn’t hear about that”.
Which if I wasn’t on here would be entirely true!
It is easier to not do something (given the notice period) than suddenly have to jack it up.
Or work in a school.
After 38 years of juggling (eventually) 6 weeks plus BH and at times fighting for the time off, getting a holiday every few weeks is very nice.
So basically a big hammer to crush a small nut
How many squadrons actually run activities between Christmas and New Year, yes some do, but the majority don’t
Initially, yes.
But then, having had to cut their programme short at both ends, some units are going to have to completely reshuffle their January/February programme to fit in the things which they’ve had to cut out.
Frustrating I’m sure.
Especially if that activity was a whole day event such as IWT
This.
This is one of my direct issues now…
