Christmas Break - Do CFAV's Have One?

What are other peoples views on this Christmas break, do you as CFAV’s down tools and relax until things go back to normal in January, or, like me, do you use the downtime to get things prepared?

Our squadron stands down after this evening and isn’t back in earnest until the 7th Jan.

However, I hope to be able to achieve the following during this “holiday”:

[ul]
[li] - Update our induction booklet and our interest pamphlet with new OC details[/li]
[li] - Study the new PI501 and plan how to roll out the revised Cadet TOS in a simple, friendly manner[/li]
[li] - Do some subs chasing[/li]
[li] - Write a new booklet for new cadets with some details of uniform do’s and dont’s - this will act as a handy guide they can have at home.[/li]
[li] - Sort out my Nijmegen paperwork for 2013[/li]
[li] - Get all of our AT stuff in from the stores, check it, repack it, ensure the inventory is accurate[/li]
[li] - Get some uniform photography done[/li]
[li] - tidy my desk and actually file my filing[/li]
[li] - throw out lots of crap[/li]
[li] - get the trophies in for engraving[/li]
[li] - I’m sure I’ll think of more[/li]

Could you do my Nijmegen paperwork too please? Ta.

Get stuff done!
Could you do my Nijmegen paperwork too please? Ta.
Sure, if you join my team

Tools well and truly downed!

I’m planning on doing nothing ACO related during the break

Tonight is our Final parade of 2012. Staff meeting on 3 Jan 13 and then Cadets back on 7 Jan 13

I’m turning off my emails from my Phone and won’t be checking them until 2 Jan 13

Last night tonight and then a staff meeting on 03 JAN, back on 07 JAN proper.

Other than that, not a lot cadet wise.

Taking the chance to do a little tinkering whilst there’s no emithers.

I am conducting my first training weekend since qualifying as a SAAI on the 29/30th weekend !!!

down tools yday, nothing due to happen until the 8th

if i find myself with a half day to myself because “her indoors” has plans then i may get round to Sqn and go through the Radio kit, throwing out what we dont need and ensuring what does work is actually working!

I have heard of this mythical procedure (throwing-out, I mean), but I’m so unfamiliar with the concept, I’d be safer just hanging on to the lot!

And hopefully you’re not skipping shed-loads of 320s, 1155s, and pump-up masts…(he said speculatively!)

ps we now on stand-down till AEG on the 5th…any met bets??

Mainly Motorola P210s/HT600s/HT800s and associated batteries, or what i suspect will turn out to be black bricks post testing!
personally i want to replace the lot with the £2k the CivCom has given me, getting some dual band radios and spending the change on some new aerials for our field masts, but the CO has decided i should only throw out what doesnt work, replace the dudd kit with (more expensive) single band new radios, and what is left get the aerials

Make sure the CWC have got iwhatever you bin written off in the property book, if you don’t you will be insuring something you don’t have.

We certainly get a break down here given that we only parade during the school term. There are a number of courses which run during the summer period though so not all staff will have it completely easy.

I always try and avoid doing anything cadet related and as our break is shorter than normal this year, I’ll be making sure to keep to it!

On strike till at least the 4th or 5th January!

Opted to ignore ATC related activities and simply enjoy the break instead.

However due to missus coming down with the lurgy. I either do housework or ATC related admin.

Pub is not an option due to post-Christmas lack of finance.

I know of one squadron from our Wing who has just completed a whole weekend of weapons training

Well erm…why not?

Other than common sense.
