Not as far as I am aware however this may change in the future… currently it will only be run in parallel with D&C but happy to be corrected.
Which I can assure you they haven’t.
All were fully briefed on the expectations of RAFAC for them as DI’s and their responsibilities to all levels of the Corps structure, but also given clear orders that being a muppet with the qual will get it removed.
Yeah, because that’s a guarantee…
Pretty sure I’ve heard that about QJLs as well. <\troll mode>
Yep, and it was me who said it! And people told me it was a waste of our time as well.
Signed up 5 years ago to a topic that had my interested. Not used it since. Only recently started to look at it.
For myself I disagree with cadets having it but that’s my personal opinion, maybe even dinosaur thinking. But I was interested to see what other people thought on the topic.
These cadets were all 18+ and also gave up a week of their lives, work and family to attend the DI course… over the exact same period of time that qualifies staff to the exact same level.
Does your opposition to this lie with the fact that you think these cadets will overnight turn into arrogant people? If this is the case, I struggle to see where your motives for encouraging cadets to go far in their time with RAFAC lie.
Can you please explain in a little more detail why you’re so opposed, because the points you’ve stated at the moment are all discussed with reasonable counterarguments.
Except these cadets didn’t get paid to be there, in fact, probably the opposite. A CFAV doing the same course would get VA for being there!
There really is no real reason why 18+ cadets shouldn’t be able to do the same course a CFAV can!
I’d hope that we go back to the stage where we allow 18+ cadets to become SAAIs and RCOs, we just need to adjust the definition of a RAFAC CFAV to include them.
For every cadet that does either course the organisation saves 4 days of VA vs waiting for them to be 20 to do it.
Yep, and it gives that cadet more reason to stay on as a CFAV! More connection to the organisation. And also, just more stuff to do for a cadet who has most likely done loads of other stuff already! It’s win-win-win.
Then they should earn VA if they are doing the same job as a 20yo Sgt RAFAC…
You mean like CIs should if they’re doing the same job as a 20yo Sgt RAFAC
/thread drift
Bingo
A CWO from my Wing attended this course and it was very intense. You are being trained by the WO of RAFAC along with inspections and observations from several other RWO’s to make sure no bias is going on. They spent Sunday to Thursday also participating as supernumeraries in the final parade at D&C Camp on the Friday. They had constant assessments along with full pace stick training and they had pre course revision and had assessments from their WWO’s to get onto the course in the first place. Also it wasn’t an attendance course it was a pass or fail.
Far too many adults go on that course and come back exactly quoted above: arrogant people.
So if adults do it, teenagers will too.
If it works well then brilliant. I just don’t want to see 18 year olds walking around with a pacestick “because they are a DI” rather than using it for a tool of the job.
Not necessarily. You could find adults have more of an ego/pride. Senior cadets are more among peers while a CFAV may feel they need to assert themself as all knowing/put on the persona in front of cadets potentially decades younger than themselves.
Can’t just ban/prevent something on a “what if” situation. I’m sure there’s CFAVs who can’t wait for the moment one of these Cdt DIs slip out of line so they can jump down their throat.
This is boring now
Canes for all cadet warrant officers! Solves the problem of using pace sticks as a “badge of office”. Sorry for stirring.
No. Just bring back the No1 SD hat for CWOs on a daily basis, and No1 for parades.
(I enjoyed poncing around in it, today’s CWOs should be allowed the same sense of over-inflated ego
In theory but seeing some cadets having passed, I think it’s great and something that should be celebrated.
