Better to ask for forgiveness than permission…
Take three weeks off, return - in civvies - with beard, ask permission to parade with beard. If yes, crack on, if no suggest that CoC may wish to reconsider or find a new OC/TO/Adj/whatever.

Actually this good timing and possible need some advice, I have been requested to join the Jarl Squad for 2020 Lerwick Up Helly aa, to which means I will need to grow a beard, however it would be over the required length as stated in the IBN as It will like a Viking.
I am an A/SGT what would be the process to allow myself to undertake this or would I need to go in to the NEP till Feb 20 when the beard would be off then?
Any ideas?

I am genuinely curious as to if anyone will be refused. I have been told to hold off with my letter for a short while. It does make me anxious.
That is the main point in particular with shortages of staff, beard or close a Squadron?
If I was your WWO…
I would allow it, as long as you followed the guidance given for people who can not cut their beard for religious reasons - ie folded and tied under the chin. It would be a shame to lose a CFAV for 6 months because of some facial hair.
I’d just grow it and avoid the WWO

We already do.
We have a fem box and a man box. Either can be checked out or given out for whatever reason required.
