Does allow for an RN style charity beard growing competition now though… Could be interesting say if judged night of Wing dinner or the like lol…

True true… but again we do camp the first week after school finishes sooooo again covered. We win! 
Looking at the Equality Act, there should be no restriction anyway.

We have a cadet with a man bun but styles his hair for cadet nights its un noticable with the beret on
So do we. (Well kinda) He also has a full beard.

Actually scratch that what I last said, time will tell. I can’t see this change coming in lightly. 
Whatever happens the ATC will manage to over manage it creating forms and admin, unheard of or thought about anywhere else, to give people with over inflated egos something to make them feel important, rather than letting it just get managed at squadron level.
I think most people are sensible enough to know if they can grow a beard or they actually want to. Personally more than 2 or 3 days growth and it is just bloody irritating. Then there is the number of grooming products which makes just shaving more cost effective. It’s expensive enough buying soap, brush and razors. I wouldn’t want the expense of a “trimmer” and various lotions and potions, that blokes at work seem to buy.
Most of the people I know who have beards have “baby-faces” so needed one initially to look grown up and those who’ve grown them over the last 4/5 years have done so as part of the fad.

I can understand pEps view and don’t understand why persons would wait until the 1Sept
As i write this we’re two and half weeks away from the 1Sept so why not take some “leave” from Squadron and have it grown and in place for the date - ask permission now, and be ready when it comes?

Well to be pedantic, one wishing to grow a beard has to put it into writing via the CoC.
To suddendly appear on the 1st Sep with a beard is technically against the regs if written permission hasn’t been sought first.
I think everybody should need to start from being freshly shaven, then start the 2-week clock. No sneakily growing beards while on holiday!
Spare a thought for us lesser soles that are only allowed to have a beard for 2 weeks at christmas. IC home wont let me try before then and she remains unconvinced about the whole thing.
