I think that was why it was changed - what were you previously meant to list a CI turning up in civvies as?
Or a sports night? This makes far more sense but it’s a bit late!
Is it so bad to describe a Civilian Instructor as turning up in civilian clothing?
I mean, yes, grand scheme of things it makes very little difference, and I don’t really care, was just something we noticed.
It totally depends on what you/anyone else wanted from those stats.
On the one hand, for staff it was a quick way to see what sort of actual uniformed presence there was.
On the other hand, I wonder how many people ever really bothered to look at that aspect of it.
Depends really on what the point of gathering the stats was, as @wdimagineer2b says.
But the point is that if data is worth gathering, it’s worth gathering properly. Is a CI in slacks and a polo in civvies or uniform? No one knows, and thus any data thus gathered is worthless.
Remember AP1358C Chapter 5 is dress regulations for CIs so using that as a gauge you can say whether they are in uniform or not. I’m not saying we should hold CIs to account for not wearing said regs on a normal parade night. We have a policy at my Sqn that we expect you too wear it but not going to give you hassle if you dont.
Neither am I, but that wasn’t the point. If no one really knows what box to select, then the data is of no value.
For example, I look at SMS and see that CI Bloggs attends half the time in uniform and half the time not.
Does that mean he fails to meet the dress standards 50% of the time? Does it mean that 50% of the people entering the register record CIs who are correctly-dressed as “in uniform” and 50% record them as “in civvies”? Are they incorrectly-dressed 25% of the time and it’s a 75%/25% split on the recording method? The data is worthless because no one knows.
I disagree entirely… As non-uniformed staff they were never “in uniform” even if wearing the branded clothing.
Now however they, just like everyone else, could be considered correctly or incorrectly dressed. Though it might take a special type of person to record a CI as “incorrectly dressed” for wearing something other than the branded stuff…
That said… If a CI turned up wearing a T-Shirt that said “I hate ethnic minorities” or something I would probably record them as incorrectly dressed… Shortly after I sent them home.
We had (many years ago) a CI turn up in lycra cycling gear for a normal parade evening. That would be an example of “incorrectly dressed”!
And probably a breach of some part of acp4
Certainly a breach of common decency and a lack of consideration for others!
Looks like SMS has given up this evening… After taking an age to search through a list to find the parent app for the sub app I need to authorise that is apparently pending my approval I get database errors, slow behaviour and timeouts all over the place.
Feeling sorry for the machine running the SQL instance at the moment.
Have you raised a service request?
Have you advised your Bader POC - they have direct access to the development team.
I have indeed spoken to my Bader POC who is also being inundated with similar issues from around the Wing/Region it seems.
Have shooting logs always required so much detail on Bader? I’ve just gone to update some and it’s like ordering Eggs in America. (Plus half the details are stuff that isn’t in the 3822 proforma so I don’t know them!)
Anyone know if the registers are working? I’ve got a back log of a couple of parade nights to get uploaded, thought they’d have been uploaded during my absence with being away but no
Worked for me last night. And last Thursday, FWIW.
Is anybody else having trouble with registers? I can only get the register to move down or up one mouse click at a time. It then it thinks about it for about a minute before I can move on/click down again. I’ve spent over two hours just doing last night’s register and the week before’s.
If this is a common problem, then I can do them another time. I can’t afford to be spending over an hour doing the register each night!
This sounds like what I found last Thursday - it rendered the register function virtually unusable.
Am I missing something as I cant see an approval number on any approved SMS applications - (such as 11/SHT/0009/19) which is needed for the Accts 4 or pay claims?
