My Squadron has a Piper PA38 Tomahawk cockpit which has been converted in to a flight sim. I have toyed with the idea of doing some sort of challenge fir the cadets and 184’s event has given me some inspiration.
In Q1 of 2013 we are going to do 6 or 12 hours of Scottish Island hopping while attempting to land , in one piece, at as many Scottish airports as we can….
Who can remember the major tv programme which did a complete real-time simulation of the dam attack raids, complete with a Lancaster fuselage mock-up and manned by modern-day RAF personnel from 617 Sqn? May have been 5 yrs ago, the nav had lots of pressure on him, as they were forced to use dead reckoning and astro-fix: yes, they even simulated the old instruments, including the searchlight cross-point bomb aiming system.
Where’s our ATC squadron that had that stunning Sentinel multi-aircrew simulation, posted here on ACC, with all the rearcrew NCA scopie positions and full flightdeck?

Engagement wise the Sqn considers the project was a success, so far. We just need to do the press releases and edit the “Airport” Style documentary we’ve filmed.
Hopefully we didn’t annoy too many people by spamming their news feeds. Sorry if we did :cheer:
Not at all! Was loving the banter using both pers and squadron accounts (depending on what was being said!)
Would love to see some more of the information about the build, some pictures of the sim in general etc to get a better feel for how it looked, although I guess your filmed documentary should sort that out.
Just hope the cadet not able to find the runway because he was too busy talking about the number of McDonalds available in China has his face blanked out!!!
