New female hat spotted in wild, albeit on a UAS OCdt. Looks to be same as an airman’s/ male NCO’s, so assume female RAFAC WOs will now wear identical hats to this with the WO cap badge as per the new edition AP1358C
My comments on the changes i have noticed…
Throughout the description of epaulette has changed to “shoulder strap” - anyone know why?
- Boots and Overshoes. Except when on parade, in heavy rain, snow or icy conditions personnel may wear combat or civilian-type boots, overshoes or wellingtons with uniform. The footwear is to be plain black with a heel not exceeding 37mm. They are to be made of rubber, leather or plastic and extend no higher than the base of the knee
Am I reading this correctly? We can wear wellingtons [i]except[i] when in heavy rain, and can wear combat boots in snow or ice conditions?
Are they not the ideal conditions to be wearing such footwear?
- A crucifix of plain metal colour may be worn around the neck.
Now I am not upto speed on religious symbols, but it was always my understanding that as an unwritten rule, a crucifix (ie cross with body) is worn by Catholics, while a plain cross is worn by protestants.
This is backed up by this article (see the article under the heading “crucifix”)
I appreciate that there are more religious symbols and items of jewellery that could be worn and be practically put into AP1358C and do recognise (based on ver3.0) this is the first acknowledgement of Christian symbols in AP1358C, but as a familiar standard between the two popular denominations surprised it stops at just “crucifix”
0304 - black patent peak for female WOs and SNCOs
As mentioned above
0703… when likely to be employed on ground administrative duties, or when a standard dress is ordered, Aircrew should wear the standard RAF No 2 SD unless otherwise ordered or they are likely to conduct flying duties…
makes clear flying staff (ie VGS) should be in No2 when not on flying duties
I’d reword 142 to this, which is what I feel it means:
Wont happen…
They will always be ‘on sby’ to fly.
Remember, they’re better than us. They are the uberflugzeugfuhrer…
Note.
German translation may or may not be correct, may or may not be provided for hilarity effect only. ‘Funs’ Paracetamol gives is however equal to or less than zero.
Think its when not on the Airfield, stop this culture of turning up in a grow bag to an outside VGS event
I can’t help feeling from an equality perspective, we should drop the ‘male / female’ thing and just let people have the option. As far as I’m concerned, if an individual chooses to wear what is defined as a ‘Male NCO Peak’, then go for it. Likewise, vice-versa. So long as everyone has a lid and it looks reasonably uniform, I’ve no issue.
Thinking also of the money that could be saved on the production of new style hats, etc…
Better yet.
Why not just put us all in triservice, unisex grow bags like North Korea…
We have left the EU now
Baguette becomes long loaf?
Sauerkraut becomes cabbage salad?
Canard becomes aircraft front plane?
Courgette becomes tough cucumber?
There must be loads of ridiculous changes to be made
Tri-service kit I personally disagree with and I don’t think will happen, but appreciate where you’re coming from. But I do think there’s plenty of scope to adapt the ‘rules’ surrounding our existing clothing types to enamble a more inclusive culture in so far as uniform is concerned.
That said, we’re wondering off topic… back to to the 1358c… crazy times.
Any chance of V5 dropping today?
If I were a betting man…
Still not had any official comment or notification on this yet
Looking forward to pulling up a few who think it is a great idea and think it is gospel
…but then I am an old traditionalist who hates open necks with jumpers etc
Is the version with officer berets still current?
WWO coming down tonight and want to be sure…
It is current in that it’s on SharePoint, a correction was shared with RWOs to disseminate.
Personally it should have been an immediate minor amendment release.
And if that hasn’t yet made it to you through CoC?
If what hasn’t made it to you?
Exactly
I spoke with my WWO last night.
He is happy for officers to wear a beret when on squadron and in working dress (No.2b).
Formal parades, peak cap only.
Well then we’d be wearing 1s right? And we can’t wear berets with those… Yet.
