Ammo difficulties

Anyone have problems moving ammo around since the edict from Air Command on the 18th dec? Or, as is probably most likely, you haven’t been informed…

You guess correctly. I’ve heard nothing.

Is it anything you can enlighten us on?

Is it the consequences of the incident in the north regarding some stolen bar mines? Or the cops who left their ammo on the roof of their car when they drove off?

(both incidents are widely reported and already in the public domain!)

Because of the stolen bar mines all MoD moves of class 1 are to be accompanied by a seperate 2 man MDP or service escort in a seperate vehicle to the one carrying the bang!!! So essentially 4 people to move any class 1. No exemptions. Obviously hasn’t filtered from HQ Air to HQAC.

Excellent logic there. Are they putting an MDP or sevice escort on goods trains stopping in sidings in Warrington for another opportunist theft?

No munitions are being moved by rail at the minute due to this.

It is Known at wing level

I knew!

It also seems that the escorts must be uniformed staff, although this could be a misunderstanding.

Indeed, as per the above coupla posts it’s filtered down here.

If you consider it takes into account the movent of all class one, including Eley Standard which you can buy over the internet…

MattB - each escorting vehicle must have an officer in it too!!

We’ve been told two vehicles, four personnel and ALL need to be officers… (of course with ADR tickets too).

It’s not going to happen is it!

The end of shooting in the Corps!

Thats clearly different to our instruction - all uniformed, 1 officer in each vehicle (so 2 officers in total).

Our wing has also asked for feedback on how it will affect us… feedback given, not quite the end of shooting, but bloody difficult to affect moves (especially when you’re in the middle of nowhere!!)

Well that’s unhelpful. I suspect my planned trip will be postponed then.

Missing mines

Police “human error”

We got a similar edict last night - 2 cars to move Class 1, all 4 pax MUST be VR(T) officers as apparently in this instance SNCOs are not considered service personnel.

I was actually considering asking sirvicalsmeer whether he’d heard of any discussions relating to how this decision will impact ACO units dealing with 1.4s (often just rimfire) and if there was a chance of a dispensation.

It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve been forgotten about when the military makes a decision which is workable for them (transport only in in MT vehicles with a separate compartment anybody?)

Thats what I’ve been told also

This is the first I’ve heard of it. When did it come into effect. Can somebody paste a bader link to the info?

I can’t see a site announcement, it came round these parts by way of an email from on high. If you PM me your bader addy I’m happy to forward it.

I believe my WShO is now aware and will update me in the not to distanct future. Thanks

I’d love to see four average VRT officers trying to stop some determined gangsters making off with a couple of boxes of .22LR.
