after nearly 8 years people still think I am a serving service instructor but I tell you its amazing what you can buy on ebay! recently I have started to tell people that I really am not a squaddy and they just look at me and laugh! so even when you tell people you are a fake they still don’t believe you!
Bully,
Just been sent this from a CEO,
From TA regs 1978 regarding ACF Commissions(TAGen list B)
- Direct Appointment. Applicants who are serving and who have previously served satisfactorily as officers in the
Regular, Reserve or Auxiliary Forces of the Crown (including the UDR) or the Naval, Military or Air Forces of the
Commonwealth are eligible for direct appointment to a TA General List B commission
Direct as in no board. He said there is no time limit as far as he could discover.

Thanks for that. I have a meeting with the Coy OC this week, I think i’ll bring this to his attention. A quick look in the ACF Manual mentions that:
5.015 AI who join the ACF within five years of being discharged from the Regular Armed Forces or the TA in the rank of Sergeant or equivalent and above, may be accepted, subject to a vacancy existing within the authorised establishment, in the following ranks:
Rank in RN, RM, Regular Army,RAF, RNR, RMR TA or RAuxAF: Rank on joining the ACF:
WO or equivalent = SMI
SSgt/Sgt or equivalent = SSI
That’s the only thing I can find on a quick search. I wonder whether this is a county rule for officers or whether they have just made a mistake. However, i’m sure i’ll find out.
Thanks
That para comes from the TA t&c’s 1978 as ammended, in the ACF ta B class commission terms of service and appointment so is the gospel, whatever policy people are adding to that is rather like what happens with the ACO possibly, Get a copy of the regulations.
