Adding some bling to uniforms

I’ve always thought that adopting a bit of bling etc on shirts would make us look a bit more military.

Having worked abroad, I also very much think that our tropical rank slides are infinitely cooler than our standard ones and should become the norm — not least because they’re so much easier to understand and spot at range.

No idea how aware people are that they even exist, let alone what people would think. Intrigued to hear reactions…

Spotted on LinkedIn. I think the rank slides look great (I’d only previously worn them on tropical mess dress).

I thought the CoAS on the left was Hugh Bonneville at first - sneakpeak on Downton Abbey 3?

Re: uniform bling - we don’t want to go down the slippery slope of the Americans. Ribbon bar for passing phase 1, turning up, not getting an article 15.

The ADC looks like he’s in his PJ’s

What is that white uniform made of?

It looks like a kids fancy dress Thunderbirds outfit

Assuming it’s like tropical mess dress, a single layer of thin cotton I think.

And I agree, we don’t want to have a ribbon for everything, but that’s not what I was suggesting.

Looks like 100% polyester, don’t stand near an open flame!

my immediate thought was painter/decorator. I can see why some might think kids’ Thunderbird costume or PJs.

Pic one looks decent. Pic 2, less so :man_shrugging:

Yeh, does look weird without a belt.

I think I prefer the KD SD myself.

Dont…just dont.

How does it look with a side cap?

As if you had to ask.

Epic. Of course.

It’s not WO season yet and even if it were, you’re not allowed to bait them.
