While I agree with this view, I also feel there’s been a distinct lack of anything.
We’ve had 1 or 2 town halls where people have had the chance to hear from him, but other that we haven’t seen any action from HQ.
Where’s the PTS relaunch?
What’s HQ’s initial idea/plan for 30 by 30?
What’s happening (overall) with the SAM event planning tool? (Yes we’ve got the consultation from Mil Skills)
I guess it’s easy to not have controversies if you do nothing…
Tony tried to do loads, which was always going to upset people.
But perhaps there is a bit of look and listen before doing? I certainly remember a town hall schedule being produced that had a couple each month that never ended up going anywhere.
Wasn’t that the whole excitement about an RC becoming CAC? No waiting around to learn the role and look & listen because he’d already been doing the RC role for how many years (8?) and so was fully up to speed at least with LaSER.
He was also doing extremely well in LaSER WRT the staffing changes, pillars etc. I was expecting that to be much more widely implemented by now across the org.
I wonder if he got into HQ and was left with a complete mess from TK. That might have taken some untangling.
One good thing: badge orders and other items, very simple, usually quick turnaround.
Counter to that, ordering certificates is a pain if you run a course involving multiple units. They will only post certificates to one address, rather than to each unit (unless they order them all separately) which then have to be distributed by the volunteer who ordered them.
This next issue isn’t from personal experience, but from talking to people, it seems like Wing staff officers are having to take on more work to make up for the lack of local paid staff, and are more distanced from the people making decisions.
Previously, things could be passed to your WExO to escalate to the relevant people at Region during their working hours, but now Wing staff are having to do it themselves, often during time when they should be doing their real jobs.
The forum gets a “bad rep” for being a load of disgruntled CFAV always ready for a moan
but it is always easier and more enjoyable to moan than to praise.
it has been quiet as there is little to disagree with.
but in the same vein, so little, if anything has changed, that there is little to agree with.
the most notable ones being changes to VA and the SC rank slides. neither of these have an impact on what is delivered (by us the CFAV) or how it is (while i accept it could impact the frequency if people’s VA is limited).
as i understand it - there was “loads” to unpack, that Dawn had left untouched or unactioned. Tony came in with the approach to not ignore things so came across as doing a lot. considering the different approach to Social Media it is unsurprising Tony appeared to be tackling more as he was “in his office” much more than it appeared Dawn was
have these now died?
Although i never attended them, i did get the invites and did look for the ACC reaction afterwards.
was this always a short term solution or is it another great idea that ran out of puff once the honeymoon period was over, and they all became “samey” with the same presenters presenting to the same CFAVs who in turn were asking the same questions?
the enthusiasm died off and it quickly became a chore to complete, particularly as it was hosted for the CFAV’s convenience rather than “office hours” of paid staff
this was certainly a hoped shared by many - while some like to acknowledge (either personally, or reported by a third party) the “first 100 days” in office, i cannot say i have notice AL put his stamp on the role. which perhaps is not a bad thing - we’re ticking along nicely, without too much upset.
moral while not on a continual rise it is no longer stuck in the gutter and somehow still finding was of getting lower (imo)
while things are still harder than they need to be, nothing is getting harder - perhaps it is a case of tackling what is wrong before introducing something new.
we (the ACC community) have long called for that approach - stop introducing a new policy, or process when for the last X years A, B and C have not worked.
this isn’t to say i have noticed things get fixed or improved, but maybe a case of “no news is good news” and it is all happening in the background?
I think while we still have Cab in place change will be slow. Afterall, CAC is answerable to someone else who seemed to support all Special K’s lunatic ideas. Replace AOC 22 and hopefully we get some positive change.
