2023 Dial In - 7 Dec

Veering off topic, but I was part way through this year when I put in all of last year and got those pretty quickly.

Now, back to tomorrow’s main event…

So what are people planning on doing for the call? Make up some bingo cards? Drinking game?

Those of you who would normally parade on a Thursday, what’s your plan? Standing down so all staff can attend? Going to live stream at the Squadron to everyone there?

I’ve suggested to my OC of putting it up on a projector for everyone to watch

Take a shot every time the word Astra is mentioned

That’s surely more dangerous than watching the opening sequence of Top Gun and taking a shot every time you see an aircraft

This is genuinely what we are doing. Gotta get TK on the big screen!

Calm down. I want to enjoy my self, not end up in hospital :sweat_smile:

It is funny to me that RAFAC are still clinging to Astra when it seems to have vanished from use in the actual RAF. These initiatives tend to only survive 1 CAS and Astra was Wiggy’s. Anyone else remember “blue sky thinking”…?

Yes but until the ‘new’ directive comes down we still have to pay lip service to ASTRA…

…and then see how much of what we have already done fits into/ or can be shoehorned into the ‘new’ program.

Lets have a sweepstake on what the name will be…

Still very much in use in the RAF Strategic planning, and a lot of the change management is done under the Astra Project.

Astra is a positive thing that is often miscommunicated, and social media can put a odd twist on what it actually is.

Actually detriment to the greater good in the terms of local young people and opportunities denied.

They are going to buy back all the Vigilants that Aerobility can’t shift, at a rock bottom price, and offer my squadron its first gliding slots in 3 years.

And… from a PR point of view - a further damaging reduction of the “Blue Footprint”.

I’m hoping he’s going to announce some staff cadets are able to get 100 accounts, clarity bookings are being made easier, and he’s going to empower squadron staff to have more discretion.

I’m placing bets on nothing being announced on this call.

Not because there’s nothing to announce, but because so many people try to join the call that it crashes.

RAF Syreston to become RAFAC Syreston.

More general waffle, get your bingo cards out- [Strategic Pause, Alignment, Focus, Pivot, Utility, Safety, Immersive, Concept of Use, Accredited]

VA to be strategically paused whilst RAFAC align their vision with that of a more immersive and future focussed package of benefits more cognisant with the modern day volunteer.

The introduction of CFAV Corporals.

CCF Schools to sister up with local ATC squadrons on a more formal basis.

The introduction of a synthetic drill training syllabus.

Regional training and assessment centres formalised. Cranwell doesnt have the room and has bigger priorities than RAFAC.

This, if it had a mixed schedule of weeks and weekends, would be really positive.

you missed “risk” which is likely to be closely followed by "reduction"which it stands as its own word
