You know what really makes me laugh?

That’s because it was already discussed in parliament earlier today. Nothing here was new, but was just announced in a more public-friendly way.

Scrubs is now on Disney+. They included a “skip intro” button. Possibly the most pointless one in existence

Sitting in a guided meditation session from work and forgetting kids are around then hearing a booming ‘yes sir’ when one of them is joining an online lesson :joy:

@Teflon, given there are recent threads on gender diversity/uniform, with your timing of this you are either deliberately malicious or more of a fool than we all thought.

For a short while at the beginning of the year you had some interesting and agreeable contributions. Such a shame you posted this.

What makes me laugh is how the Potato Head thing is being deliberately badly reported to wind up Gammons like Teflon.

They just dropped the word ‘Mr’ from the range name, and will still sell all the same toys under the ‘Potato Head’ logo. It’s mad that it took Mattel this long in hindsight.

I also read yesterday that due the uproar, they had back tracked and would still sell Mr and Mrs potato heads.
Effectively now just adding ‘potato head’ as a 3rd option.

Either way… not exactly big news.

I’m surprised as well. They’ve been selling “Mrs” under a brand called “Mr”. How did that survive so long even pre 21st century?

Belongs in gmg for me, because the media deliberately whipping up a storm with how they headline this and the masses reacting with hair-trigger outrage is infuriating.

Don’t know about backtracking, it’s the main logo for the range that’s changing. The characters themselves still being available as far as I can tell.

Yeah they never planned to change the name of the characters, just the brand name. Unsurprisingly, it has been spun into some mad culture war story by the press.

Working regularly with marketing types I think it was always the intention of Hasbro marketing team for it to happen, can’t beat a bit of free publicity.

Rebranding the range to Potato Head and that neutrality makes it easier for them to release special editions or add to the range.

So if Mr Potato Head is now Potato Head, that makes Mrs Potato Head also Potato Head :man_shrugging:t2:

If they are both together and you what to draw the the attention of one or the other, how do you call the individual out? If Potato Head, both will come :man_facepalming:t2:

Sorry, PC gone crazy.

When are we going to lose white board markers? I personally don’t like permanent markers, how about banning them in favour of non-permanent.

Mr Potato Head is still Mr Potato Head and Mrs Potato Head is still Mrs Potato Head.
All that has changed its that the overarching brand is now Potato Head.

So Mr Potato Head is no longer “Mr Potato Head from Mr Potato Head” and is now “Mr Potato Head from Potato Head” and Mrs Potato Head is no longer “Mrs Potato Head from Mr Potato Head” and is now “Mrs Potato Head from Potato Head”.

It’s not PC gone mad. It’s a change to improve inclusivity in terms of brand name but makes naff all difference to the names of the individual toys. It’s just dishonest reporting by papers who know it will get them clicks and shares by inciting the Gammons

It’s the overarching branding that is “Potato Head”, you can still buy Mr or Mrs Potato Head toys but I now expect things like Spiderman or Superman potato head versions to start to appear.

That aside, it just makes more sense. As you said, buying a “Mrs Potato Head” Mr Potato Head is daft.

Diversity aside, there are child potatoes - children aren’t traditionally called Mr and Mrs.

I only ever had Star Wars Stormtrooper and Darth Vader ones - who I suppose would be Trooper Potato Head and Lord Potato Head.

It’s like this.

Imagine if all Lego toys ever had been sold under the brand name “Mr Lego.” The world we live in is still the same, and they still have every other toy they currently make, but the red and white overarching ‘Lego’ logo had Mr in the top corner. Unnecessary gendering the overall brand, but also gendering toys under the management overall umbrella.

It’s that ‘Mr’ that Mattel have dropped. All the names for all of the individual toys retain their gender pronouns.

It’s such a massive non-story, but is ripe for the gammons to think it’s the next step on the road to outlawing all gender.

Making me laugh…

What is going to be another embarrassing performance in the rugby by England.

What. Is. Going. On!!!

If you didn’t laugh you’d cry.

Starting time when the water carriers were still on the field is bang out of order. Farrell was right to argue that. No way was that try okay…

Had the pointless penalty not been given away in the first place it wouldn’t be a problem.
