How have I not seen this before?
I’m actually in a bit of awe over this!
I actually LOL’d
Probably every single Russian one and those in countries not as open as others and who knows what goes on behind the scenes elsewhere.
Difference being suggesting impeachment, would result in “a visit” and never being seen or heard of again.
Hardly much of an endorsement then is it?
I didn’t laugh but the rest of my class did: I was fidgeting with some scissors on top of a plug socket in science and not realising the plug was on, I accidentally put the scissors in the socket . There was a lot of sparks and an after school detention on Monday
Good effort. Mate of mine was banned from physics lessons for a month and made to book learn about the national grid and electrical systems…
They made him learn about electricity, its power, and how to control it… Because he strapped a load of 20v power packs together, hooked them to a retort stand, and made himself a little electrical firework display.
THAT made me laugh.
What wasn’t so funny was another friend who nearly gassed himself electrolysing HCl. Accidentally setting fire to a pot of Mg powder is interesting, oh and we once had a teacher who gave 5 kids an asthma attack and set fire to a bin in the space of 5 minutes.
Chisels in a rotary sander is fun, skimming chisels off a tiled floor at each other’s ankles makes for a more extreme version of dodgeball, accidentally stabbing someone in the head with a Stanley knife not so fun (it wasn’t me).
It wasn’t even a rough school and all my classes were the top achieving students!
They say school days are your best days… I suspect you’d be far less likely to get away with all that now (and the rest I haven’t mentioned).
(PSA: I don’t condone attempting any of these yourself)
When I was at school some kid got in big trouble for trying to saw apart a 7.62 round.
I think the best way to describe my feelings right now is “bewildered curiosity”.
It’s nearly impossible to electrocute yourself by poking things in to a British socket, as the live and neutral terminals are covered by gates which only open after the earth pin has seated in its terminal - so I suspect any sparks were in the imagination.
Still wouldn’t recommend it though.
I would like to know how you would accidentally insert anything into a plug socket. I know kids are a law unto themselves, but that defies it all.
We used set fire to gas taps or put the tubing on the tap sans Bunsen and light that. One kid nicked a chunk of potassium (10mm10mm10mm) and tried to flush it down the bog, it made a mess of the bog and he got kicked out for a month and sent to the local approved school, as we had then.
the earth pin had been opened first then the two scissors touched causing a fireworks display.
How had it been opened?
scissors
You have no idea what me and my classmates get away with…
You have no idea what I haven’t told you
Chemistry teacher was always popular - we made home-made fireworks, potassium chlorate crystals, & a few other “interesting” substances.
Best demonstration of making water - 2 parts hydrogen, one part oxygen, all in a 20 gal (or similarly large) metal drum, partially buried into edge of school hockey pitch. Electronic ignition - KABOOM!!
Rather large hole in hockey pitch. Couple of broken windows in science block. Numerous 999 calls from local residents thinking there had been a disaster…
Aung San Suu Kyi has caused me to chuckle, hard done by prisoner, poster/t-shirt girl for the tie dye wearing, placard waving lentil munchers, now having to account for the persecution of a minority group by her country’s military. The Nobel Peace Prize should be in a jiffy bag making it’s way back to Stockholm.
