Laugh/Gears

Wet night at unit, we had rowing for the juniors, and the option of sailing, canoeing and some other boating for the seniors.

We had 9 very enthusiastic volunteers for sailing. And the rest, didn’t want to do any water based activity at all. Leaving me spare.

So I went sailing instead.

And the Chief made the rest do drill.

I remember when we used to struggle to fill flying spaces

Apparently the Chief asked them all why they wanted to be Sea Cadets if none of them wanted to go on the water on the hottest day of the year?

Meanwhile, we sailors played pirates, which is where you try to sink the other dinghies. It took four cadets to sink mine and the CI’s, and then all of us to right it. (The Lt’s words “we won’t need the masthead float” rather came back to haunt him at that point.)

Mutters something about maximum inherent buoyancy.

Doesn’t help when the mast is stuck in the mud upside down.

MML QRA typhoon just reacted and guided an aircraft into standard. At the same time, the BBMF Lanc happened to just be flying past crossing paths :joy:

Apparently it went supersonic over London/ Essex so was certainly in a hurry!

Ahhh i thought i heard a boom when i was on the ground at Biggin

The reply shows he was absolutely sending it. Over 700 knots on take off, and a good supersonic cruise for over 5 mins.

The flight path is somewhat interesting though, avoiding over flying Cambridge?

Imagine the tension if you knew you were the second most watched aircraft. A couple of thousand people all watching, knowing you’ve screwed it up once already.

For some reason, I find it very funny that these missed approaches always end up at the top of the most watched list, especially at Funchal being such a PIA when it comes to weather!
