When you say,
I’m not sure that includes a yard of Jaffa cakes.
I can relate. Several “yards of Party Rings” landed in the staff kitchen today - apparently one of the directors saw them and bought them to help “perk people up”.
It turns out, the people doing January health kicks get really angry and emotional about this sort of thing being readily available.
So I took one for the team and worked my way through a fairly sizeable plateful. Saving them from themselves.
This is on my to do list
They put on a good show
It’s ok. It was lunch I was trying to make more healthy, Jaffa Cakes are an “at home snack” in the same way that Pringles are an “indoor crisp”.
Wait for it…
That tickled me
Takes you by surprise doesn’t it?
He has a point though…the issue smock is pretty good
I just wish we had a layering system which didn’t require everything to go under that one layer (or silly arm patches that make it a nightmare putting stuff over the shirt).
I almost always want to wear a jacket because I’m feeling cold, which unless the cold is coming purely from the wind, means I need to add two layers, because the other one is unlikely to be MTP.
The US forces have some very nice fleeces they can wear as an outer layer, and that definitely feels like the thing we’re missing. The puffa jackets are nice enough, but they’re not that breathable.
You can get MTP waterproofs that go over a smock.
You talking bout no 1s? as I am very much in favour of Captain Jack Great Coats!
Barrack shirt is the way to go with MTP which you can then wear with an air crew turtle neck and/or Norwegian under the smock. Then there’s that farmers quilted jacket floating round if you are still cold.
I’ve seen regulars (mostly army) at various things wearing soft shells.
They could be private purchase - Keela/Carinthia and the like - but a lot seem to wear them for when the smock is too bulky and the shirt not enough.
The latest iteration of the light olive ‘softy’ jacket has a rank slide on the front. Surely that means it must be an outer layer?
If so, the same argument applies to my green jersey heavy wool, with its shoulder straps (remember when they called that, before they migrated to the chest?)
I’ve been challenged by a SWO for wearing that as an outer layer.
I think my argument that it has a rank attachment on it (and I wasn’t in the field) were fair. I was on an army lodger unit, hence in green.
The rules may have changed since then.
I was torn between going for a Red Kyber Crystal or Blue… genuinely quite a stressful experience
Evidently i went Red
School run this morning, spotted a military mum, and could see combat trousers, boots, and beret… sticking out of an OG Dry Robe.
@AlexCorbin can we get that in the dress regs?
Nope.
