Daws1159, You are my actual hero, as life hacks go that is utterly amazing.

I am getting up and going to McDonald’s at 7am in the morning. Never mind your treble I’m having a quadruple.

Don’t forget that even if on the machine it wont let you add extra stuff (like the big mac and other things) if you pay normally by speaking to someone you can ask for what ever you like added to anything.

Also pretty sure the app lets you add even more stuff too!

My eldest moved to Iceland in August so I went out with him to settle him in and drive him around to do his official stuff (as well as IKEA stuff). We ate out every night and one evening we went to a restaurant in Reykjavik called ā€œDillā€.

20 courses and Ā£270 later and I was stuffed. So was he AND he’d had the wine pairing with each course. We retired to a local hostelry called ā€œBastardā€ (yes, a real place: Home - ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  brew and food and being a Tap bar, they did a wide variety of craft beers. Had a hangover the size of Argentina the following morning.

More tips like that please @anon72613902 - dependant on Covid I’m meant to go for a week at some point in 2021 with the better half!

Course unfortunately I’ll need some (mostly) Gluten Free options too

Haven’t been to Iceland for a while, but we tend to go via Reykjavik so always worth a look-see at different places.

Drinking ability, Danish = bronze medal standard. Swedish / Norwegian = silver medal. Leading by a mile, the Icelanders = gold medal. But boy, oh boy, bloomin’ expensive.

We found a nice cafe off the main strip, that did GF or vegan options across its entire menu.

We went there for food most days. I’ll try and find the name again. This was 3 years ago mind.

This too i can attest after working a couple of seasons around the Baltic and Scandinavia… including the Transatlantic Crossing stopping at the Faroe Islands and Iceland

But the bars often had a ā€˜fun’ game of chance to win a beer or 8 beers - massive wheel of fortune type thing behind the bar

Packing up and moving to Iceland.

Went on a school trip, but was 14… so no beer…

Sounds like my kinda place (he says polishing off a magnum of wine. No work tomorrow mind.)

Flying School is closed for the rest of the year - (Normal Xmas break (not a covid closure thankfully!)

Finished wrapping up my Xmas gifts and finally unpacked my yearly wine order (18 bottles of some of my favourite Napa Reds!) And a selection of Brewdog beers - thankfully I got comp’d an entire 2nd order because my first delivery came rather poorly packed and looked like it had been rummaged through (maybe by a DPD driver looking for one of the fabled Gold Punk cans.

Some might say I have an alcohol problem

I’ve been meaning to get into the brewdog game…just so damn expensive for the little cans.

Well into Camden Hells at the moment

I like the punk ipa, but struggle to buy in otherwise.

I’m more of a laithwaites faithful;

This Christmas in the reserve I have waxed bat, black stump and cabalie…

A mixed case of reds; and two (now one) magnum of the regular black stump; a fantastic durif Shiraz.

Wine Geek out.

Hate wine with a passion…it all stems from one heavy night when I was 16

Can’t drink that anymore, official beer of the Gooner Scum.

Wine is the gateway to truly excellent port

V_Z here’s a tip - take Mrs V_Z to Iceland for NYE. One hell of a show with all the fireworks over Reykjavik. We were there for NYE 2017-18 and again 2018-19 and had a great time (further tip: find the Perlan building (next to the domestic airport) and stand with a hundred others watching the pyros go off all over the city).

As @MikeJenvey says, Iceland is damn expensive but I’ll vouch that you’ll have a great time. Try Laugervatn Fontana Spa: Iceland Spa, Geothermal Baths & Steam Saunas | Laugarvatn Fontana (excellent value and facilities including their volcanic bread!) as opposed to the Blue Lagoon (booked-up so far in advance and hugely expensive.

Make sure you take her to the Geysir (pronounced ā€œGaysirā€) and to Kerid volcanic crater. To discover more places to go, download the WAPP app onto your phone.

And don’t tread on the moss! ( The Hardest Karaoke Song in the World - YouTube

Here’s a radical thought - how about an ACC Fest 2022 (all things being equal, covid-wise) in Reykjavik with visits out to the Golden Circle? (That’s the Golden CIRCLE gentlemen, not what YOU may have been thinking about).

Plenty of time to save up. Flights and an AirBnB are cheap enough so you’ll only have to spend out on beer, food and hire cars. A couple of Landrover SuperDefenders ought to do it.
