You know what really makes me happy?

Turns out it only takes 2 weeks to receive a Christmas card from the UK to Peru, so there was no need to send it before Halloween after all.

I remember those, I might have been one of those presented to!

An excellent evening supporting Aerobility at their annual Aviators Ball!

Lets see if i win a bid on a Wing Walking experience on the silent auction!

Update: ■■■■■■ i won :joy:

MMH - Just found out I had about £200 worth of bitcoin (at current exchange rate) sitting in an old account. Only found out as they emailed me saying the account is so old they are going to start charging an inactivity fee every month!

Now to try and turn it into real money. Or maybe just leave it and see what happens…

At current rates that is basically no bitcoin!

I’ve got 0.002693 BTC :joy:

Both parents turn 80 next year so have spent an evening helping getting their Christmas decs down from the loft then Putting the lights up in the living room.

Cue family debates about what we did last year /last decade/last century/millennium about what light went where, family debates involving various non sequiturs to divert & change the conversation & sitting there with a multi-meter testing the fairy light bulbs on the sets that we’ve had from the 80s, incorporate terminal blocks & definitely would not pass a pat test.

A nice nostalgic family evening :slightly_smiling_face:

Accidentally break them when they get taken down, & buy LED replacements in the post-Xmas sales!

Being told to cut tape with a pen

Have got them a set of LED ones - it’s finding ones that have the covers that reflect the lights

Also comparing them the old fairy lights are a lot softer.

Besides there’s nothing like the thrill of taking the bulbs out & putting back in whilst the dodgy wired set with a couple of terminal blocks is plugged into the mains :joy:

They are indeed - tried to keep using a set that my mother had - had to give up as finding bulb replacements was getting impossible. Still use some of the (very fragile - 60-70 yrs old?) Xmas tree baubles that she owned - but on a very small artificial tree, up high, & well away from the cats & dog!!

Have you seen Technology Connections multi-year video series on this exact issue? As if not, boy do i have some videos for you :joy:

Starter for 10.

This is an abomination.

Ahhh i love a good Christmas Light Show

Especially Tom BetGeorge he always puts on a good show… bonus points for a halloween show - and raises money for charity when people come to see it in person

I just dislike christmas

These are the videos I was on about. This guy is great, and for about 7 years has been moaning about the colour of new Christmas lights and trying to find a solution to make them look like the old ones. Here’s a playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBFPJ3_6ZWs&list=PLsRLXc9_f4EXaVIBY9wQPXBM8-zVRZ0kk&index=2

Spoiler - 7 yrs & he finds that Sharpies fit the bill!

Only discovered him this year. TC has a knack for getting mundane topics millions of views with up to 40 minute runtime (retention unknown).

25 minutes comparing kettles, 20 minutes on DVD standards, 15 minutes on battery power bar, I had just queued up 25 minutes on Christmas lights but realise now that I have 50 minutes of lore to catch up on…
