Ahh Scrooge is back
I enjoy midnight mass, a nine lessons and carols (but only with boy sopranos in the choir and preferably in a medieval church with no heating and only candlelight) and mince pies. Other than that I could skip the whole secular/capitalistic mess that has taken over.
The important bit about Christmas!
We are off to a carol service called Lucia in a few days.
Swedish service based on an Italian saintā¦ Very weird.
Anyway, the saint carried hope and light through villages in the cold of winter. So āSƤnkta Luciaā wears a crown of candles. Lovely service, even if you canāt understand it. Always in a large unlit church in Brighton.
Itās all about after service tea and āgodisā though.
Mince pies should be banished for being minging.
I thought you were alright.
No longer.
Well as today is the first day of advent - Xmas decks can official go up. Inc at Sqns
Hope you have the relevant RAs in place for that.
Yep,
Also going to organise a competitions for which Sqn has the best Christmas Decks.
Spoken to a couple of contacts in Hampshire & their up for making corps wide with the respective WWOs doing the judging.
Bonus points for how festive the feel is when the WWO comes to visit (Christmas songs playing, snow falling, animatronic Santa saying merry Christmas when someone enters etc)
Also talk of asking the wing staff team to do an entry as well
Now Iām with you on the hating Christmas and not celebrating itā¦ But this one is a step too militant for me!
A lot of staff I know act like robots and wouldnāt pass the Turing Test, does that count?
Wait, that means mulled wine and pigs in blankets!
Tasty!
Pretty sure we have this discussion every year!
You take that back.
This is why heās a Wing Weary Officer, no sense of enjoyment or basic good taste.
I hate them so muchā¦when i have āto doā christmas she at home buys me the percy pig equivilant
Must stamp out fun
Iām almost 40 and got a package in the post yesterday, my Mum had sent me and the wife an advent calendar each.
Tesco do a spiced rum with crumble topping mince pie. Amazing warmed up.
