Speaking with a local councillor about the number of unlawful parking tickets being issued at the moment where representations are rejected with a stock letter (and only overturned when people risk going to the tribunal). I ask him about the issue/representations process in general and he tells me ādiscretion aināt a thing. The councillors have taken it all away from the parking enforcement team because it creates precedents which we donāt likeā. Discretion is a thing you blithering idiot. But this Lib Dem council have never let a thing like public law get in the way of them doing what they want.
