In the next couple of months the Wing Commander in the Wing is stepping down as OC Wg and wishes to have a handover Parade. With the Wing Banner from Old Wg Cdr to New Wg Cdr…
Any ideas / suggestions to make this special for them both?

I can think of one or two suggestions, depends if the incumbant/incoming WingCos are liked or not…

Although comments made me chuckle. Can we have some serious suggestions…
All I can think of is march on. Wg Banner handed over to current Wg Cdr then speaches blah, blah, blah… Banner then handed to New Wg Cdr then back to banner bearer… March past, with new Wg Cdr taking salute.
Thoughts, any better ideas…

Instead why not have two banner parties: One with the old OC and one with the new. You can then have the banner handed from Old Bearer, to Old OC, to New OC, to new Bearer.
Then have the new OC inspect the parade, escorted by the old OC.
And fire! The banner should be on fire!
Alternatively:

this was my initial thoughts when i read the OP
have old OC say “This trainset is yours now good luck” and then let him into the mess for a drink?
Or you could follow Incubus’ idea which seems most logical
Is there no precedent set by the RAF?
Thanks for the edit pEp. last forum i was on auto corrected stuff like that.
That’s why I’m here
As far as I can remember, all we’ve done with the previous few OCs Wing was have the old one clear their stuff out and the new one move in. I don’t recall there being any ceremony.
Our last 2 squadron commanders have been handed a quaich: the first at a BBQ and the most recent at a formal evening which also included an LLC presentation and a formal squadron photo.
You could “troop” the banner to add a little interest.
or:
The outgoing wing commander could lead a wing parade onto the square. He could then be relieved by the incoming one (with suitable handing over of banners etc) who could lead the wing in a march-past with the old one on the dais.
Both would need significant rehearsal though.
