Windy

Id like to share windy.com if no ones heard of it or if you have it a really good weather app with many overlays very useful for the weather, or if you want to to know where the wind is blowing.

Not going to lie, when I saw the name of this thread I thought there might be another wind warning with all activities cancelled again

I do love live weather maps like this! A personal favourite of mine is Weather Radar - Live UK Rainfall Radar | Netweather

It looks pretty boring today, but is super useful for accurately tracking rain. I’ve seen loads of ‘rain radars’ around, but this one always seems to be best for me!

My other “love” is scuba diving…, I rely on the XC weather app for coastal info to work out if a dive is going to be blown out…

I use Windy for my day-2-day flying instructing job.

Fantastic.

From current rainfall radar, to current and forecast wind speeds/directions and cloud bases.

Pretty helpful to gauge if AEF/AEG will be going ahead

I’ve got it but I clearly need to get into it more. Will have a fiddle.

(PS AEG? How old are you?!)

How old I am vs. How old I feel are two very different questions.

Back to windy, whats quite useful is you can raise the altitude, so you can see the surface winds and the winds at 2000’ etc. (I mention this because a lot of people have been amazed and unaware of this feature)
