Why no AEF/AEG "F"-form?

Was there ever an actual RAF Form XXXX reference for eg the Gliding Record sheet within ACTO032?

It’s always struck me as being strange that such vital documents don’t seem to have a proper historical RAF Form reference number.

Was it always so? Why?

Bump

What makes you think it’s vital?

Because of the following:

  1. Air Cadet flying and gliding takes priority over all other activities.

  2. Other fundamental paper document records in the organisation are RAF Form format (eg F3822/668/1771)

  3. It is an activity the details of which have always required to be recorded, and as such I find it strange that (Bader aside) we rely upon forms which don’t have a historic ‘F’-number but instead are just pages at the back of ACP. Remembering that at one time the RAF itself used to regularly AEF it’s own junior regular and reserve personnel (now a rarity I strongly expect), and I mean in Bulldogs as well as Hercs, VC10s, Tristar, Nimrods…the absence of a historical embedded Form Number for this document is really really odd.

do you mean the manifest style sheet filled out with the Cadets of XX Sqn with the details of their flight?

it does seem odd that it would not have an “F-number”

Yes, and exactly so, just odd.

I’m not saying that the lack of an official Form number is in any way a problem, or has ever caused any grief…it’s just a mysterious omission. And stranger the more you think of it, historically.

ps Edit: does anyone have an RAF Form 1767 Flying Log? Does a page from that have the same lines/boxes/details as for our Air Cadet AEG/AEF flight recording sheets?
