Well everyday is a school day.
At the time of writing I didn’t realise CCF are in our outlook system!
So that solves the contact issue…Still need the reason/excuse
I guess not having the need to I’ve not looked into how-to contact the CCF!
I’d call that a hypothesis - theories require observable, recreatable, and repeatable results!
Reintroducing yourself after covid hoping to mutually support & help recover /develop. Focusing on better utilisation of local resources as wing/area resources are not as available.
I invite the local OCs of the SCC & ACF plus the contingent Cdrs to our dining in night each year. Helps break down the barriers as they get to chat & meet the staff - even if they say no it gives you an in.
But don’t solutions fix things lol and thus farcnone of us have found any
You Sir (or ma’am apologies don’t know anything bout your CFAV background), have obviously never worked in public/government service. (I’m generalising but it’s for comic effect
)
In this arena Solutions only fix things that were broken by our predecessors & what may appear broken is actually running 100% as it is intended to so no solution is needed & those who think that a solution is needed are being negative & belligerent & are undermining the status quo, preventing things from working as intended.
Nice response (I think) lol
Granted I did it in the reverse by approaching the local Wg Shooting Officer as a CCF CFAV - but we have approval from Army RHQ to allow the ATC to use the rifles we hold and use our armoury for forward positioning. The School also allow them to use classrooms to deliver SAA at the weekends.
In return we get to go on their Wg Shoots which are substantially closer to home than otherwise. Win-win!
first pin I randomly clicked on is massively misplaced:
pin is just outside Chester, address is Lancashire…
Cleary OpSec
You don’t want to advertise being in Lancashire too much do you?
Where is Kazakhstan?
Is there a CCF unit there?
Going on that map probably as it looks like they were pinning a tail on a donkey blindfolded, which is of no use to anyone.
If you’ve never seen Richard Osman’s House of Games, this round never fails to amaze me that people you think should have a vague idea where places are nowhere close.
All the other pins do seem to be in the correct place, I just happened to pick the only one which has been misplaced. I would argue therefore that the map is a very useful visualisation of where CCF units are, and therefore fulfils its purpose.
I’ve got no idea what the link to House of Games is though.
One mistake like this does make you think that attention to detail is missing and no one has checked it. It clearly says it’s Morecambe and Morecambe is not on that map, you’d have to think is that right.
They have a game called Where is Kazakhstan? They get a map and are asked to locate places on that map and their lack of knowledge is mind numbing.
you clearly haven’t actually looked at the link further up the thread. The actual map is a fully interactive embedded Google Map of the UK - the pic I posted is just a screenshot of one small area of Cheshire.
No there are a few others, try looking at thex2 pins in salisbury
Just a point of information regarding these maps - the location pins often move slightly depending on the scale of the map and the level being viewed.
At the correct zoom level the pin award in the correct place but it will then jump about depending if you are zoomed in too close or have zoomed out too far. Its irritating but a common flaw & not to do with the initial pin placement or geography of the map creator.
