Hey Y’all
Does anybody know the reason for the Tutor fleet being grounded…again?
Email sent out by our WExO from our local AEF OC
Today at Cranwell they discovered a control restriction on a Tutor aircraft. Accordingly, we are all grounded until engineering analysis and a solution has been worked through. I do not expect this to be achieved this weekend as the control runs and inspection panels in the Tutor are not placed in ergonomically easy juxtaposition.
The kinda thing you look for in an aeroplane when reviewing applications to a tender you’d have thought.
Just put up on ACO Announcements on Bader:

3FTS have informed HQ Air Cadets that AEF tutor flying can resume with immediate effect
How convenient - just for the weekend when we were due to fly
What on earth is going on with the aircraft used / owned by the Air Cadet Organisation?
Is it all just an unfortunate coincidence?
5432G,
In the case of the Vigilant it was an airworthiness directive published by the EASA after a fault had been found in a single G109B on the continent. The aircraft was routinely left outside rather than hangared and- surprise surprise- water had ingressed and damaged the elevator control rod. Since the Vigilants are probably the most coddled aircraft in Europe, we didn’t have a problem. It was just an over-abundance of caution, really.

I was going to say how typical it was that they put up an announcement like that, but that I never saw anything (other than the first post here) to say that they’d been grounded in the first place…
…except that, now that I look…I can’t see that ‘resume’ announcement either.
I see nothing since the H&S newsletter on 8/11/12
The last people to know anything are the drain sniffers. The warning went out on Friday afternoon- pretty much the usual time for engineers to send out word when the people using the aircraft will be doing so on weekends.

That ( the H&S newsletter ) is in the “Site Announcements”, you need to click the “ACO Announcements” at the top of the page.
Thank you. I love the way they ‘hide’ these damn things…

Coincidence. If someone feels there is an issue, it needs investigating. Thankfully this one was an easy one to solve.
There’s almost a justification for the making of an ‘AEFSTATE GREEN’ / ‘AEFSTATE RED’ icon in Bader…that could be repeat-reported out onto ACC. And maybe an ‘AEGSTATE’ one as well…just thinking aloud.
