The Obi Wan Kenobi trailer about 5 times.
Litrrally flash back to 10 year old me sat in the odeon with a tub of popcorn bigger than my head and a huge coke ready for a phantom menace
The only star wars movie i watched on release
I cannot wait, I’ve seen every Star War film in the cinema (except Solo) and Revenge of the Sith was probably the best experience.
Can someone with decent SW knowledge help me on this…
When is this limited series set?
Is it inbetween ep 3 and a new hope?
I assume before rogue one?
Where does it fit in with Mandalorian and Boba?
Thanks!
Star wars is getting almost as complex a universe as Marvel now!
Between Episode 3 and 4. Before Rogue 1. Probably up to 8-10 years after Revenge of the Sith, based on the age of the actor playing Luke Skywalker in the trailer.
Mandalorian and Boba Fett set after Return of the Jedi.
Is there a from the start which order to watch it all in?
You have much to learn young Corbin
Happy to be corrected, but chronologically:
Episode 1
Episode 2
The Clone Wars
Episode 3
The Bad Batch
Solo
Rebels
Obi-Wan Kenobi (set about 22 years BBY)
Andor (set 5 years BBY)
Rogue 1
Episode 4
Episode 5
Episode 6 (4 ABY)
The Mandalorian (9 (ABY)
The Book of Boba Fett
Episode 7
Episode 8
Episode 9
Ashoka is expected to be set around the same time as Obi-Wan Kenobi with a cross over at some point, however it’s not confirmed if that will be the whole series or whether some of it will be set later after Episode 6 (which would make sense if she is out hunting Grand Admiral Thrawn).
That’s supported by the Original plan to tie her series in with Rangers of the New Republic, however that show is now on hold after Gina Carano got sacked for claiming that being a Republican today is “like being a Jew during the holocaust”.
Nothing has yet been confirmed about either Lando, The Acolyte or A Droid Story or where they are going to fit.
I’ve not put the full time line just enough to give a flavour of how much space the series will have to play with.
No pun intended
BUT
I don’t recommend watching them in that order, that would be insane!
I recommend:
4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6.
From there it’s up to you, but that has to be the starting core. Newbies should use this order so the twist in 5 isn’t spoilt by 1-3, they then watch 1-3 as the flashback to explain the twist, then go back to 6 for a better ending than finishing with 3.
I wish that their had been!
Agreed if you don’t already know the twist in Episode 5, although it’s so famous you alsmost certainly do.
The ending of 3 is so good, why would you go back to Episode 6?!
Also I don’t recommend watching 7-9 at all, it’s time you will never get back.
I liked 8. It tried to be different, did a good job and works well on rewatch, but it got slated by the “fans” and then as a reward for their petulance, we got 9.
The issue with 8 was that huge chunks of it just didn’t make any sense. Especially that sublight chase idea.
When Mark Hamill is saying “your vision doesn’t match how I see the character” you should be listening, he’s been living it his whole adult life and will be in touch with the fan base.
The sublight chase makes much more sense than ‘lightspeed skipping’ which is meant to be impossible in gravity wells, which is the entire reason interdictor cruisers existed.
Sent me back to 1977… when star wars wasn’t a new hope
The sequels are fine and in ten years people will be on to complaining about the next thing.
The prequels look worse, have worse acting, are vaguely racist, and don’t deserve the rehabilitation they’ve received lately. The idea’s certainly there; the Clone Wars is really good! I just don’t get how those movies are at all watchable.
That’s a filthy lie, the only acting that’s at all suspect is Hayden Christianson and even he isn’t that bad. (He’s supposed to be playing a sulky teenager on an ego trip for gods sake!).
The prequels were very well written, with a few hiccups (pod racing being a personal annoyance).
The Sequels were just uniformly awful with a few redeeming moments.
The prequel would have been so much better had the “Jar Jar s secretly a Sith Lord” theory been true.
