Enterprise had finally gotten good when they cancelled it!
All of them were pretty average to start and got better after a couple of series
Each incarnation always seemed a little too Boy Scout-ish to begin with - once they had had a couple of seasons character development, chipped the smoothness off to get some rough edges, and less Roddenburyesque writing, they all improved
And ditching a few extraneous characters always helped
I’m in the orange circle
I think most of us here are…
Shot gun an escape pod though!
Saw that recently on one of the “nerd” titled groups. Had a little chuckle.
I’m not!
I wind people up (only semi-jokingly) by saying I don’t know the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek…
I’ll help…
Star wars is the gash one with puppets…
Star trek is a sophisticated take on the future.
… retreats to fall out shelter…
Did anyone watch ‘Danny Boy’ about Brian Woods story?
I’m just thinking why didn’t the Wookiee get a medal?
I did. Personally I thought the Phil Shiner Charecter was portrayed rather more sympathetically than he should have been. And that the actions leading to the gallantry medal were toned down. Overall, it was a bit nothingy…
The sophisticated take on the future that isn’t afraid to glue things to dogs and babies.
Finished sons of Sam at about 2am… Really twisty crime doc, really recommend it
I’ve never read up on the story before but will see what the background is.
It was Johnson Beharry’s company - his autobiography gives a reasonable idea of the background (and the immediate aftermath) to the action, although Beharry’s warrior broke down as he was heading off to take part in the battle.
A lot of the main characters appear in his book as well.
The book ‘Sniper one’ also gives a pretty good idea of the ferocity of the fighting - the author was in the same battlegroup as Beharry, albeit in a different part of Al Almarah. Both good reads.
Also gave me a chuckle where it describes the Beharry situation.
Ashes to Ashes
Quite annoyed that Life on Mars has disappeared off of Netflix
Just finished The Act. A series based on the real events of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her mum, Dee Dee Blanchard.
Highly recommend.
It’s on iPlayer, or at least that’s where I watched it
How on earth do you lot have time to watch all these weird / wonderful / unknown / cr@p programmes or series???
My work cycle is generally 6 days away from home, 4-5 days off. The 6 days away can be frenetic, slow as heck, or somewhere in the middle - this week, managed an afternoon wandering around in Venice (no American or Japanese tourists - something good from Covid), but counting the one later today, 4 different airlines bouncing around Europe. That’s an unusual amount of playing catch-up to connect with my “own” aircraft - but sometimes it just happens that way.
My “watching” is (when away) mainly what I have down-loaded from BBC iPlayer - I can choose my own programmes - often those I have missed whilst being at work for the previous week, or, those that I couldn’t get to watch at home when Mrs J has the TV remote super-glued to her hand!
One of my favourite programmes (even watchable for Mrs J) is the BBC’s “Repair Shop.” Every episode is a loving work of art, based on the family stories linked to the items, & the artisans who work miracles with them. One of my ex-RAF friends was visiting the area, & stopped to see the location - the various “repairers” were having a break from filming & he managed to chat with most of them. He said that they were the same off camera as on camera - a great team.
