Weather Watchers

Bomb threat at my kids school at 0800 this morning.

They’ve plonked those who’ve arrived early out on the school playing fields with no shade - meanwhilst, anybody who arrived after 0800 has found the gates locked and a member of SLT directing them to go and stand in Sainsburys because there’s air conditioning there!!

I’m sure Sainsbury’s will be well chuffed with 1200 students rocking up to stand under the door vents!!!

Might have to take a cheeky day off and head to Thorpe Park with them… enjoy the weather whilst it’s here!!!

Same!
I gave up and went and sat in the garden with the dogs at 01:30 where it was a cool 28 degrees.
Was back up and out before 6am with the oldest spaniel,a quick swap of spaniels and some gundog training with the youngest before letting him mooch about for a bit. Home for breakfast just before 8 when the temp started climbing again, it was 18 degrees when I headed out before 6am.

Is Special K the head teacher? In what sensible world does that require an evacuation/closure?!

Certainly getting hot in the workshop now. Much higher humidity compared to yesterday too

Wuss - I ran a range last night, temperature was reasonable, 2 silver badges + one blue badge.

Higher temperatures = lower air resistance = faster bullet = less time for the bullet to go off course from the target…

That’s how this works, right?

I got my Green King IPA silver badge!

Medium term modeling is showing next weekend to be hotter than what we’ve just had! Still over a week away, and model confidence doesn’t seem super high. But certainly potential for a scorcher! Potential 40C+

Wouldn’t it be typical if for the final ISCRM everyone bar the RAFAC entered because of the heat.

RIAT is the week after too, so if we get this heat later, it could be a repeat of 2022!

Note that the RIAT Extended Camp arrive next weekend (12th) to build the tented village.
while Saturday morning is a written off as people arrive and get settled into flights, the afternoon and Sunday is where the work really starts as they build their own tents for that evening and then build the rows to work off for the rest of the week…

with the hindsight of what worked and what didn’t in 2022…and thus now have a “case model” to work off and “play book” to follow

How to bring the mood down right there

I was really enjoying the 23 degrees with a gentle breeze this afternoon, thinking if summer stays like this, this will be nice after that scorching heat and then I come on here and see your post. Quick look at the weather and yep, great, back to hoping the forecasts are wrong
*waits for Mr Emz to return home to request a posting back to Scotland

Whilst I bemoan the quality of my current 5s at least they are not as heavy and thick as my Cold War Charles James quilted 5s
Even so 31C crammed in a Marquee is going to be an endurance test - plus wonder how busy the disco will be after

Best get a hold of a QT34 and cut the music to make sure no one goes over their work/rest ratio!

A suitable list of Dance Floor Emptiers every 20 mins!!

At lease the Cummerband/Waistcoat dilemma is resolved

Windmill in old Amsterdam

Ernie the fastest milk man in the west

The chicken song.

When we were in Plymouth doing a sea survival cse, big pub, lots of matelots, we plonked Terry Wogan’s “Floral Dance” on the jukebox.

Lots of displeasure expressed by the matelots.

Left the pub shortly afterwards having payed for about 15 plays for the same song! :smiling_imp:
