Waddington International Air Show 2014

Well, 2 days to go…

Will I see you there?

DJ

Yes. Can’t wait. Is Rivet Joint likely to display?

I think so, as far as I’ve heard

Will miss it this year unfortunately, reduction in mobility. However all the best I know you’ll be chasing your tail as usual.

After seeing some photos of aircraft arriving there i wish i was going

That’s the kind of 'tardery that causes problems and me to have unpleasant jobs to do. In this case, pilot = complete dick.

In this case it appears the pilot wasn’t really at fault.

It seems to be an appropriate approach for a fighter. Low and fast.

One has to wonder why the people under the flight/approach path were there putting themselves at risk?

If the aircraft was a little higher but had a malfunction and had to power up to go around the situation would have been worse and certainly not the fault of the pilot.

So maybe you would like to amplify your opinion with reference to the concept of stabilised approach criteria? In particular I should be interested to know what you would consider the critical parameters in these circumstances.

Of course we’re all qualified F16 operators here aren’t we, so are all well qualified to assess his technique and operating parameters?

There’s a set of traffic lights on the A15 there. Sadly they don’t stop idiotic spotters who shouldn’t be standing in the undershoot. One has to ask why on earth had the police not moved that particular crowd on…

About 14 years ago, a Mirage 2000 pilot put the wheels through the fence there too.

I’ve seen hundreds of landings lower than that.

A similar style landing also occurred at last year’s show, a Typhoon that time.

The mirage that went through the fence was the reason why it’s now painted red and white. (The airman who suggested the paint was awarded a GEMS.)

Of course we’re not all f16 pilots but many are experienced flyers. We all know the dangers of standing on the approach/undershoot. What if there was an actual problem? That wouldn’t have been nice at all.

As we’ve seen recently with the tragedy with the rally car race this year, the police have no real ability/power to stop people from being on a public highway. Unfortunately.
