I agree the pins were/are a little impractical however, you can have them embroidered with the RAFAC logo on them as you can with the VRT logo then there would be no need for the massive rank slides

Are they really going to back down now though? Theyâve been ramping up the rhetoric and making a big thing about how much work theyâre doing to introduce it.
Mind you, I guess the official announcement will need to be tomorrow as the 1st October falls on a weekend.
It is getting very close to the wire. Bader is down tonight for âessential maintenanceâ. Perhaps there will be a massive upload of documents where somebody has done a find RAFVRT and replace with RAFAC.
As an aside is am still hearing whispers from people further up the food chain that it still wonât happen.
Personally I feel it will go ahead to prevent any loss of face of the snr mgt. Canât see anybody having a meeting with HMQE2 and saying you know that CFC you agreed to well it is like this seeâŚ

But these will look crap after a few months, put them through the wash, theyâll fade, go all shabby and look worse.

Most VR(T) look crap and shabby - and doubtless some commercial supplier will produce a much better version in short order anyway.
Looking a bit crap for a couple of months - and overwhelmingly, looking crap away from the public - seems a small price to pay for getting rid of the pins. If it upsets you that much, have your Sqn in greens until you can get a better blue set made upâŚ

but they have the initial issue date as Oct 18 in the scaling table on the CFC bader page.
All of my tabs are rank braid with the VRTs sewn on, pins removed and in 18 years of being a Flt Lt, Iâve only had one VRT come off, which was doing FMS, which was rectified by an extra couple of loops of fishing line to reattach them. I did exactly the same with my ATCs when I was a WO, never had a problem at all. This was a tip I got from an old WO when I was first appointed.
Iâm assuming heâll buy some, and given the colours they wonât look so amateur.
Heâll boringly honk off about not buying stuff, but I assume that doesnât include Persil - given how he honks off about them fading in the wash.
