I find it cheaper getting reconditioned iphones from my mobile provider for myself and kids with a basic data allowance cos we all live using wifi. I did a lot of research against all models and makes but iphone ticked all the boxes.
And the build quality is usually very good - nice materials et cetera so they last. I only just killed off my 2008 Mac.
Please could the following be looked at:
Under user accounts there is no way to sort by any column, so to find a particular cadet you have to look through each one.
Not sure if this is because they are a staff cadet but when creating a bidding event, adding the staff cadet as a director still has their status as âbiddingâ not automatically âselectedâ.
Same happens for staff on bidding events.
Sorting by columns works for me on Chrome. I just click the heading as expected.
In other newsâŚ
Something which would be dead handy though would be the ability to sort the events list by deadline date.
In SMS? Agree that would be handyâŚ
Sorting working fine in Chrome by clicking the up/down arrowsâŚyou can also search using the search box
Agree this would be a good quality of life imrpovement and has been added to the SMS sprint after discussion with the Developer.
Our next sprint for version 1.1.0 is going to focus on:
- User feedback improvements on the backend so we can mark feedback items as resolved etc - this isnât something that cadets will see but will help us stay on top of what is coming in.
- Feedback update so that it allows cadets to select things like âWe want an app for our smartphoneâ and when they choose that option, it will give them the stock answer and wonât allow them to submit that. There are some recurring themes that we need to provide instant feedback to the cadets on to cut down on the noise so we can focus on the usual comments submitted.
- A âfeatureâ of the main menu is that it doesnât scroll with the page on mobile devices. While this isnât technically a bug, we are treating it as such and this has been resolved and tested on the dev environment.
- We want to identify which cadets have been selected on the individual event pages somehow.
- Add event criteria for AEF/VGS. We are going to use AEF/VGS as a test for how eligibility criteria will work and this activity has very defined criteria as the the ACTO policies. This will mean that if a cadet does not meet the criteria, they may not be able to add their name to an event until they do. We havenât got into the detail yet.
- Event dashboard improvements. We are going to improve the look and feel of the event dashboard and that work is largely done.
- Release notes. We are going to add a feature that allows us to add release notes to Cadet Portal itself which will then be presented to the cadets when they login for the first time after a release. We are currently reliant on CFAVs passing on that information which is a bit bonk, so we are going to fix that.
- Squadron Staff page. Cadets have been asking for this in a big way. They want to be able to contact the Sqn Staff (exec roles) via email easily and they would like a page where this information is displayed. We wonât be displaying telephone numbers.
- Badges not correct. We are going to create a feature that allows cadets to inform the Sqn that they are missing something from their record so it can be actioned. Again, lots of feedback from cadets wanting this.
- Integrated MyBrassard into the theme. We want MyBrassard to appear in the theme of the site rather than opening in a new tab. We said that the first version was the first version, so for the next one we want it to just appear on a CP page not in a new tab.
- Absence emails. If a cadet submits an absence through Cadet Portal, we want the system to email the exec roles to tell them.
Will it be possible to toggle these emails on/off via sms? I can imagine some Sqns with 100+ having 20/30 absences and getting their email spammed.
Not initially, but it is something we are conscious of.
Yes.
That all sounds good.
I would particularly love the ability to embed an electronic calendar in a standard iframe as an option instead of uploading a monthly training programme as a doc/xls/pdf/&c.
Weâve currently got a google calendar which the staff view and Iâve tested the implementation of a cadet visible calendar, colour coded for uniform, in an iframe on the most basic single page of html just to check the concept.
It would only require the ability to insert the iframe code into the appropriate page in CP.
Granted that in order to be visible the calendar would have to be shared to âanyone with the linkâ which would require staff to consider from a security standpoint what level of information they include.
Can we have this so that it works both ways, so if they are shown on SMS as having a badge they arenât entitled to they can flag it for deletion? (Our Wing Training Team are a nightmare when it comes to this!)
Can we please have the âshared in Cadet Portalâ notification on the Dashboard so that I donât have to click on the event to see if itâs been shared or not?
Having the option to select who gets the emails would be good, as an OC I donât need those emails but the Adj will. Doubt the Chairman/Treasurer will need them for that matter).
+1 for that please!
Another wish list feature of note would be the ability to publish links in the Sqn Documents section as well as files⌠And possibly also for cadets to receive a notification when a new link/file has been uploaded (assuming they donât already get one).
Iâve seen Squadrons on Facebook putting up QR codes on the wall for Events in Cadet Portal (as a sign up sheet). Is this something CP does (If so how!) or are they taking the CP link and using a QR generator?
Available via reports in sms for the event. Sign up sheet
Excuse me if iâm late to the party with this but why was the decision made not to push events to units automatically when they are created at a Wing or Region level?
In one foul swoop the portal has been nobbled by the old and crusty CO who is limiting access to events by either being technically inept or just annoying and not publishing the events.
Personally I like it this way.
We get invited to all sorts of stuff whether itâs relevant or not.
Iâve already chosen not to publish certain events to CP because either we are already engaged on other events or have no eligible cadets.
This way, the cadets wonât see things that they cannot attend (and thus I wonât have to keep rejecting them when they try to get a place) and I can filter all the junk (such as staff only courses which the cadets donât need to know about).
Iâve found that weâve been invited to numerous events throughout the Region which we are never likely to attend (because weâve got plenty of local options for the same thing).
The old and crusty OC may very well exist but one would expect that he or she will be found out pretty soon when SMS shows that they arenât pushing anything to the portal.
I definitely think this is a better way around than automatically pushing everything and making more work for staff to go through un-publishing various events.
I think I agree with you - it would definitely be useful to have some hard stats available fairly soon as Iâm already seeing patterns of units not publishing anything.
As far as I understand it, the individual event creators (and presumably other DS) can already see which invited units have pushed it and which havenât.
If a report doesnât yet exist to present a full overview to Wing staff then Iâm sure it could probably be done with relative ease. When I get a chance Iâll poke about and see.
Yep, you can see it on the units tab. No report yet that Iâm aware of⌠for now Iâm having to go with an email asking if they have a valid reason for not publishing it.
In fact, that might be a useful thing - default should be published, and if a unit chooses not to then they select (or type) a reason which can be seen by the event originator.
Only issue with that is that if itâs automatically published a) Cadets will get it without key information and b) If you then opt out Cadets may have seen something and end up disappointed even though the reason for not advertising is valid.
