The Herc at RAF Museum Cosford does need a lick of paint

DDH issued guidance on VA that it is not only paid at substantive rank but limited to 5 days per eligible member of staff on a unit with OCs to manage distribution of that unit total to target those in need of financial support

You can see problems starting with accusations of nepotism and favouritism starting from day 1 in some units.

Point to the policy or it doesn’t exist.

It does exist as an attachment policy statement sent from a and signed by a full time member of staff. This is from a DDH chain who often forget to match their modnet and bader sharepoint saves. So search its file name doesn’t bring anything up yet :man_shrugging:

Got to be, yet another, Region thing. We’ve been told 28 days per CFAv until to pot runs out. Saying that, from what I heard the pot only equates to about 10 days per person!!

What’s the MODNET file name?

20240523-2FTS VA Policy

We are also a week away from the new policy taking effect and no document has been released detailing what activities and roles will attract VA at paid rank. I bet that this is either released at 16:55 on Friday or not at all.

The IBN about CACE has a list of activities that do and do not attract VA.

New rules kick off on Saturday 01 June. So you have a camp finishing 01 June, is your VA split or is it based on when HQAC actually action your VA claim :man_shrugging:t2:

People out this weekend, assuming VA under the old scheme, could actually get under the new scheme due to delays at HQAC

That policy doesnt mention any activities attracting pay at acting rank just a cut and paste from acp300 with all the activities that would be claimable being substantive rank only.

The accompanying email blurb also states any days back to start of FY to be deducted from the available pool, despite the policy stating from 1 Jun. So safe to say clear as mud

New VA forms uploaded to Sharepoint. 4/8 hours periods and Substantive/Acting rank .

All kicks off tomorrow but no direction :man_shrugging:t2:

Are the old forms still there for people who havent yet claimed…

Just checked and the one in Sharepoint is the new version. Just hope two things; people has a old copy saved for any outstanding claims and HQAC will accept VA for any claims up to 01 June :man_shrugging:t2:

You do all know you can see old versions of documents on Sharepoint by right clicking and going to version history  So hopefully that’ll let you get the previous F80e.

In complete agreement… not only does it deliver on all the points you mentioned, but it’s an immensely potent activity for vastly improved mindfulness.

The NHS are even prescribing walking as a means of treatment…

But back in the context of cadets - it’s a prolonged activity, away from devices, away from tech, in the company of their peers, where ordinary and extraordinary conversations take place that are proven to lead to better social interactions in every other activity.

Fresh air, daylight, prolonged low impact cardio, relatively cheap equipment (most of which is multi purpose), ability to teach other skills during the activity such as Nav & Radio…

But my personal favourite “bolt on” activity… “choir practice!”

Desperately hoping the new CAC sees and appreciates this too!
