But… what if cold has changed?!
Yeah RC(N) claimed, on teams, that an IBN was going to be published last week.
A good chunk of the DLE course is about filling in RAs, which are different to the RAFAC ones, so a copy and paste would be suboptimal.
Having said that, having already done the DLE course, and uploading proof to SMS, I don’t plan on repeating it on Learn.
Just updated, Training is live on Learn now
Apparently IBN being issued ASAP
It appears it is once again an exact cut+paste job, rather than crating a cadet-focused package.
Maybe the cadet-centred training packages are one of the HQ activities binned off by CRAFAC to focus on remodeling?
Very much so
Notice how I’ve never had a reply to my question on VoP?
I don’t think I can actually see your question anymore. However the channel messages are no longer displaying in chronological order, so that doesn’t help.
How cam HQAC put together a training policy when in relation to heat/cold illness there is no scientific basis for their policy as no testing /experimentation has been and will not be carried in regards to children.
Happy birthday Bob
You volunteering to be the guinea-pig
Too old, we know the effects of heat/cold on adults.
There is some data referring to the effects of cold on children, but that is in the context of heart surgery to close simple defects which did not require a great length of time to perform the operation. By simple, I do mean atrial or ventricular septal defects (a hole in the heart). The children were anaesthetised and then lowered into an ice bath until the heart rate slowed with the cold but not slow enough to cause the heart to stop. Sometimes children died because the surgeon when they opened the heart for abnormalities they just didn’t have the time to repair. Only the development of cardiac bypass pumps allowed the development of cardiac surgery for both children and adults to the surgery we see today along with the presurgery investigations and the ability to perform such things as coronary artery stenting and valve replacement and clipping (think Mick Jagger recently) without the need for open surgery.
The Germans, notably the Luftwaffe and SS doctors performed freezing experiments on concentration camp prisoners in Dachau between 1942 to 45. the RAF Institute of Aviation medicine sent officers to Germany as the war ended to evaluate the data from the camps and rejected such data as being inhumanely and unethically obtained.
Well, still no IBN and the training that was live isn’t on Learn anymore.
I’d say I’m surprised…. But I’m not
Just seen that the cold injury prevention policy was update yesterday.
Edited to add.
IBN issued yesterday 9/11/23 @ 4pm.
And I’ve just updated SMS to say I’ve done it, with a screenshot attached showing the JPA competency I got for doing the DLE courses. Let’s see how this pans out, as I have better things to do with my time than repeat mandatory training I’ve already done.
That as maybe but have all your cadets seen the training ahead of Sunday as per the new policy?
Given that HQAC haven’t distributed the updated materials in a timely fashion, that sounds like a Monday problem.
Don’t do the training yet, it doesn’t work properly and doesn’t mark as complete.
