I read it.
Its basically a pause then? We have a policy that allows us to do activity if we can jump through the hoops, but only if we have that piece of kit?
So either those activities will be paused while they are provided. (Seems unlikely) or they’ll have to issue a load of exceptions.
But paragraph 6 and 7 says that we must use it for and activity considered to be EAL.

But it also says it’s only a guide, and in the end the buck stops with the risk assessor?
The WRT are to be treated as an absolute maximum. Again, they’re aimed at adults. It means the whole system is practically useless for us, and we may as well just look at the weather normally.

Come on, someone with an EAL activity this weekend, give that FS a bell and ask for a machine. See what they say.

Our Wing Athletics is this weekend. I’m not involved in it at all, but by my reading of the new policy they would require a WBGT be done at the location…
I bet £5000 that it goes ahead as normal and there is no WBGT done at the centre.

Does also specify (in my interpretation) that this is only necessary in heatwave conditions.
Now, if RAFAC had a definition of what a heatwave was, that would help…

I can’t match the money, but I’d bet it gets cancelled.

I disagree. I think it is saying that “Duke of Edinburgh Award, AT, physically demanding sporting events” are always considered EAL. But if there is a heat wave then any activity is to be considered EAL.
Examples may be parading and marching for long periods of time, leadership training, elements of Duke of Edinburgh Award, AT, physically demanding sporting events or any other activity conducted during extreme weather conditions (i.e. heatwave).
My bold.

I agree.
According to this, you need a WGBT to roadmarch in January.

I’m meant to be running a sports night tonight… depending on interpretation, that could also be deemed to require a WBGT as we’re in slightly warmer weather.
Reading through that IBN (and choosing to interpret the comments around WBGT the way you have) even doing aircraft model making in an air-conditioned classroom would require a WBGT if in the middle of summer.
That’s how it reads to me, yes.
I’m fuming that they’ve had the audacity to send out such an atrociously worded policy.

On a Friday afternoon as well

Precisely. They knew it was poor and have put it out so all the (rightfully deserved) feedback is a problem they can avoid for a couple of days.
