Uniform Stores

Good Afternoon everyone,

Pardon me if this question has been asked before or if I am simply unaware of where to find the appropriate resources, but is there an ACP on uniform stores or something similar?

I was handed the responsibility of the stores from an FS (ATC) before he left the corps and whilst he did give me some information on running it, I do still feel like I’m running it blindly. Ordering uniform isn’t an issue as I simply fill in the order forms and hand them to our WO and then file the receipts once I recieve the uniform, but I just wanted to know mainly if there are any specific guidelines I should be following etc.

Thank you.

TangoSierra.

As far as I’m aware there isn’t anything that will help you. Order clothing in as soon as you can. Get rid of unserviceable clothing as soon as you can. Keep as little in your stores as possible so less to look after, but enough to make sure you have items to swap once cadets get bigger. Beg Borrow or acquire any DPM/MTP when you can and get this out to cadets as soon as possible…
Keep your records up to date and get clothing back as soon as cadets depart… Other than what your doing theres not a lot else that can be said.
I’ve just looked in our Clothing Stores and I’ve found an old 1983 clothing supply document with that era of uniform order numbers, and a folder of records for the cadets and issues with the appropriate record form.
Not much help but at least it proves theres not much out there.

ACP 24 -_ Logistics Administrative Instructions_ has some info on uniform stores which may be worth reading?

Thank you! I suppose it’s just trial/error and maintenance of some basic record keeping!

Thank you, I’ll take a look!

When I took over responsibility for stores at my sqn, I went through all the blue uniform & made an inventory of everything. That way, if a cadet came to me on a Thursday saying ‘I need a new Wedgwood shirt for parade on Sunday’ I could instantly see if I had one their size, and the minute a new cadet got measured I could see what I had to fit them. That helped, providing people didn’t just go in & take things without marking it up on the list (which happened). If you have time to keep on top of it an inventory could save you so much time (ie you don’t have to go through piles of shirts/trousers/skirts to find the one you need isn’t there).

Yeah that’s what I was thinking of doing, creating some form of inventory on Excel or something and amend it as things come and go. Thank you for the advice.
