Stumbled across this gem on some 1940s reenactors website. Could they have got the RAF Uniform any more wrong? And are those VRT pins I spy?

A non-aircrew Pathfinder too. A rare beast indeed…
Horrible on every level. Is that a Mons Star ribbon he’s wearing? Seriously scary stuff (check the tie-knot and the white(?) shirt). And the OR’s SD peak…
A frightening thought - some ill-informed civilians may have witnessed this nasty spectacle, and assumed he actually was some part of the Air Forces of the Crown.
Has someone spliced silver buttons on to the No 1s? That back-belt button is just…unbelievable. This deserves an exorcism, or a thorough sprinkling with more than just holy water-
What an unpleasant embarrassment all round…

Its not an RAF uniform. Its National Car Parks. Thats why he’s standing around a lot of cars. The bloke in the pin stripe suit is city stockbroker and has just raided the NCP attendants pension pot and is going to spend it on a much needed 70ft yacht ballasted with coke and crewed entirely by Filipino ‘swimwear models’.*
*Well that’s what it says on their visas…
I think ‘reenactor’ is a bit strong. It’s undoubtedly an event where people are expected to look ‘period’. You can see equally ludicrous uniform combinations at ‘1940s’ themed events in all corners of the country.
I’ve seen worse…
I really hate those awful ‘dress ups’.
I always find myself thinking "You don’t look ‘1940s’… You look like a complete… "
