Hi, I’m currently a CI at a Sqn in Cumbria and Lancs Wing, but have moved to Belfast, and am wishing to transfer, I went down to a Sqn in Belfast tonight and spoke to some of the staff there, the CO was away. I was just wandering if anyone has any advice and/or tips about transferring to a different unit, wing and country. Thanks.
so much easier nowadays.
assuming you were on the BADER system in previous Sqn it is a matter of both losing and gaining OC to approve (ie chat via email, Mr Smith is transferring are you happy about this? yes he will be very useful)
couple of tick boxes on Bader and drop downs to move you across and its done…
Don’t forget the hard copy form you need to fill in as well, otherwise HQAC will explode.
Acording to my wing;
No no no no no no.
The paper trail has to be done and HQAC do their paperwork and do the changes on universe before any bader changes are made.
Rubbish. The new OC needs to have your record visile for safety purposes. They are talking out of their hoop.
We’ve been told the same for staff transferring between squadrons in the same Wing.
A mate of mine moved squadrons and it was 9 months before the stars aligned. The OCs signed their bits of paper, sent them off to Wing and that was it for months. When the OCs questioned it, they were told as said Universe then Bader and only Wing HQ staff can do the change on Bader. I suppose it keeps them feeling important. Which is a nonsense and apparently the same for staff promotions Which was frustrating for him as he didn’t have access to Bader at his new unit, so the OC was setting things up on SMS and having to ‘invite’ him and his old sqn. His old sqn never got involved in anything.
I wonder what happens when staff do ‘developmental moves’ for a few months, they are probably back on their old sqn before the paperchase catches up. But this paperchase is then repeated when they move back. The could spend up to 2 years effectively in limbo. Utter BS and highlights how cack our processes are.
Your wings also talking out of their hoop.just do it and transfer the record - as long as you send the paperwork in. If anyone complains just cite “total safety”.
And what is total safety and what has it to do with transferring staff.
When my WHQ has a sense of humour failure because I have again transferred a member of staff without the relevant paperwork and signatures from OCWg and OC Rgn. Me piping up with “I call total safety, its all OK lets have tea and biscuits” will make me as popular as a fart in a midget submarine. And then saying that a guy of the internet said it was fine is not going to make it any better.
Like I have said before 6 regions times 34 wings gives 204 ways of doing things.
Maybe if Prune had the courage of his convictions and gave us his rank, name and Wing, we could quote him and all the Wg Cdr’s could heave a huge sigh of relief at his miraculous insight into the system…
Next of kin?
Medical information?
If they can use it as an excuse, so can we
