Training Update

So, has anyone had the chance to check out all the new files added to HQAC Sharepoint yet? Doubt it…

I’ve been getting alerts over the past two hours that new files, ppts, etc, have been added in to the following area - https://sharepoint.bader.mod.uk/ACO%20Document%20Library/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2FACO%20Document%20Library%2FActivities%2FTraining%2FBTEC%2FTraining%20Material%20for%20checking&FolderCTID=&View={74DD64BC-E86B-4F14-808B-2CCDF3CAFC14}

Wonder when we will be told we can use them or they’ve been uploaded into Ultilearn…

Doesn’t look any different to the content on Ultilearn. Given it’s in the BTEC area I guess it’s to do with getting pass/merit/distinction criteria established?

Yep, extremely disappointing.

Military Aircraft systems is different - there’s actually content there now, where before it was a slide with a picture of an aden cannon saying “this is an aden cannon”.

Still considers the engine to be part of the airframe

In the English Electric Lightning’s case they were! It was essentially a pair of wings strapped to two massive engines.

And that’s about as up to date as Handbrake House’s technical knowledge.

I learnt Senior in the mid noughties. That was up to the minute knowledge according to the ACPs I was taught on son.

That doesn’t mean that it was up to date…

In the mid-noughties, my job was telling the military how to do aero engineering… :stuck_out_tongue:

Are you telling me ACPs are behind the times? I suppose that would explain the constant references to the USSR…

And how the policies of the Kaiser Wilhelm are potentially causing instability in Europe between the Great Powers…

Nothing changes.

When I started as a cadet in the mid 70s, the standing joke was Space Travel, which had the line “one day man will land on the Moon”, it was dated iirc 1968.

This took the biscuit. Needless to say no one studied Space Travel.

The problem HQAC has never had the ability to change things quickly wrt training materials as it would mean changing questions on the exams. Now they are going down the BTEC route I imagine changing the font will need a committee, umpteen meetings and bits of paper, so updating/changing training materials, no chance.

And in the 1961 edition, building your own nuclear shelter was part of the sylabus, this was still on my Sqn in the late '80s.

Meanwhilst, in an entirely different directory on SharePoint, the “First Class Cadet Log Book” has quietly been uploaded. I notice we’re back to a million signatures to have somebody complete first class…

How does one remove the <<Full_Name>> slapped across the front page?

Not much chance as the numpties at HQAC have only uploaded the PDF.

Oh the irony, a few years ago a bruhaha about not making First Class like school and we are supposed give them, to all intents, a schoolbook with excercises in.

I suppose it’ll be down to Squadrons to print these beasts out as well… sigh… I anticipate that, even with cash for getting our accounts done on time, the squadron is going to end up out of pocket. Why not just put it all on Ultifail and be done with it!

Been told they can be requested from TG1; but that’s never got out…

These aren’t official - they are trial purposes only for some areas. The admin chopping team have these in their sights IYKWIM.

Email received to say do not use them.
