The voice of The Wombles dies

Seen on the BBC Bernard Cribbens has died.
For those of a certain age he was a voice of tea time tele as the voice of The Wombles and possibly the least likely action hero as an assistant to Dr Who in the 60s Dalek Invasion film and later as Catherine Tate’s characters’ grandad…
A gentle and almost comforting voice.
Plus the Fairbrass brothers would may have never got their group name without his song Right Said Fred.

Also, a former paratrooper as a national serviceman in Germany and Palestine.

A true all round entertainer. I don’t think we’ll see anything like we did from his generation again. My first introduction to him was the Wombles but personally I’ll remember him more from his Doctor Who days.
