Hopefully a quick one for someone - We’ve had a parent come down and ask what/if there are any regulations for parents transporting children to events such as sports trials. Is there anything written down anywhere?
Thanks in advance!

Nope. Personal matter between the sets of parents.

Spud[/quote]Welcome to the forums Spuddist, as mentioned by Op Nimrod there are no rules about this at all. If the ACO were to introduce rules it would probably be the end of sports and similar out of area activities that do not attract public funding for transport.
The title says it all - parent taxi service.
As with many cadet events, long-suffering parents are a vital ingredient for cadet attendance. Worth the cadets doing some bargaining/negotiation so that car sharing is taken into consideration or Parent A drops off & Parent B collects.
It would also curb some parade nights. I have parents who share the “taxi” dties for ordinary parade nights.
Long suffering my backside!
SO they occassionally have to drop their offspring off somewhere further than 5 minutes down the road.
We are still the cheapest baby sitting service in the country and a little parental input isnt too much to ask!

Glad you think we are a baby-sitting service. I reckon many of the contributors on ACC see themselves as something a little more than that.
Babysitters with a cool hat and shiny stick!
To a lot of parents the Cadet Forces are a babysitting service, where else can they get rid of there kids 2-3 times a week for a couple of pounds…?
The difference being is that babysitters get paid…

I wasn’t talking about the parents. I was talking about the CFAV. If you think you are baby-sitters then get out and leave the job to those of us who feel we do more.
RS, I don’t think any CFAV thinks that, it certainly wasn’t the meaning of my post.
However the attitude of many parents indicates that we are (in their eyes) a babysitting service to get their offspring out of their hair for 2 nights a week and the occasional dirty weekend.
Now I and I’m sure every CFAV is aware that we are so much more, but asking parents to occasionally transport their own children isn’t too much of an ask.

Ditto
It would be so nice for parents to not make you feel like baby-sitters for teenagers, and actually take some real interest in what their children do and directly support them, but the reality for the majority is otherwise.
