I use Saphir as well. When it comes to what to tell cadets, I think we should be showing them what a wax polish looks like (be that Saphir or Kiwi) and telling them to get that rather than liquids, sponges, etc.
I’m not sure we should have ever been endorsing a particular brand: just encouraging proper wax polish over the other stuff that passes for shoe shining solutions.

Especially since organs need to be sold to buy saphir

I was always let to believe some of the alternative cheaper brands weren’t great for a good shine and the forces tended to use (issue?) Kiwi.
But now we can’t get it, open to suggestions.
It’ll apparently still be available for online purchase, just not in the shops: Kiwi shoe polish to disappear from UK shelves but will still be available online

Indeed so, thank you. Shame it’s not £1 a tin any more, but at least it is available!
Disappointed that a few years ago I forked out for the normal stuff and not mirror gloss (out of stock everywhere at the time). Makes for a damn shiny shoe!
We have 100 tins of Kiwi at the sqn available for the cadets & staff to purchase.
Looks up grid ref, forms raiding party
Need to get some polish on my shoes tomorrow but kit is at the office…
Obviously don’t have time to get it or any saphir. Is cherry blossom still dog poo? Or does Timpson have an alternative?
Ta!

Saphir if you can get it. My local shoe repair place stocks it. Not sure about Timpsons.
Kiwi is still available online, though that mightn’t help for tomorrow!

Had to cherry blossom it!
Results are alright but you have to work for it. I’d recommend people give it a try just so they can remember why Saphir costs so much
