Staff on multiple Squadrons

Hi, I’ve recently joined my local Sqn as Staff however I spend a lot of time at my partners (who lives some distance away).

Does anyone know if you can be a member of staff on 2 different Squadrons?

TIA

You certainly can and it’s quite common. One Sqn will be your primary on Bader and the other can be added as a secondary. That way, you’ll appear on the staff list for both, can be given SMS access at both etc.

I second @grounded .

i did this at the start of the “Bader” system. I met my then GF through a Cdt event. While we were both dedicated to our own Sqn, hers did a lot more on the weekends, and a lot more “interesting stuff” and so as a competent Staff member was a welcome pair of hands to her unit. it was a win-win for them, they had extra female cover and I came in tow as someone happy to get stuck in.

It was an “unofficial” attachment, but no different to Squadrons working together, the only exception was i never brought my cadets along. it was telling that for whatever reason i hadn’t joined her Squadron for a while and the next time i did, one of the Cadets asked me “can you come back to 123 Sqn Sir, we miss you” - which was a compliment given i was never “on” the Squadron (even though i attended some parade evenings, i was never on the training programme to teach!)

(it never worked the other way round though, my Sqn events were never seen as an attractive option - i blame the (other) Sqn staff - and to be fair, her Sqn Staff were much more preferable!)

As i say, that was just as BADER was coming into force and certainly before SMS to record events and attending Staff but no one cared.
nowadays I suspect the same would be true, but just make it “proper” by having it recorded on SMS.

as others have said no issues, even between regions

Just chat to the OC of your Partners squadron and get them to appoint you through their Volunteer Portal as a Supernumerary position, you’ll then have to accept the posting through your Volunteer Portal.
