Squadron Team Logos

But that’s what the policy was, for years.

Without approval from the Royal Household, delegated via the Inspectorate of RAF Badges, any such policy did not have any authority relating to unit badges.

I thought I would add on to this as I was thinking logos. Personally I think RAFAC has lost it’s identity and doesn’t know if it wants to be ATC or RAFAC I think personally that every squadron should have a logo(RAF Text Logo eg RAF 123 Squadron) , but also have the addition of gaining an official ATC Badge/Crest.

This is because when ‘RAFAC’ was introduced as a replacement for ‘ACO’, too many people misunderstood the hierachy of the terms. It wasn’t helped by staff being ‘branded’ as RAFAC and the cadets ATC (from a traditionally ATC standpoint).

I might have mentioned this once or twice before, but it would’ve made much more sense to bring the CFC officers into the ATC or CCF whilst making them (and WOs and SNCOs) honorary members of the RAFVR.

This would mirror sea and RM cadet CFAVs and take the form Rank (ATC/CCF) Name RAFVR, e.g. Fg Off (CCF) M. Cholmondley-Warner RAFVR, or Sgt (ATC) P. Marsh RAFVR.

But we have an approved badge, so are you suggesting that everything we produce has has our own name and number on it twice?

Even without an approved badge and using the ATC badge, your proposal wouldn’t solve this and further confuses it, because we would be attaching an ATC identity to the RAFAC portion of the branding; the ATC Sqn name and number should be attached to the ATC portion of the branding.

My apologies I think you have misunderstood (My poor writing) what I mean is that every squadron gets a RAF logo eg like the Gliding school ones. Then they use the ATC crest. But they could also be able apply for a Squadron ATC Crest and go through the official routes and be able to use that as well as RAF style logos.

I don’t know how that VGS got its own RAF logo branding, but generally sqns don’t. They have their heraldic badge and use the RAF logo at the top of their letterhead.

Normally speaking, those modified logos are reserved for stations and top-level stuff like professions, sports, reserves, RAFA, etc.

Don’t make me get the Meme.

Many of us said this at the time, but the rebadging/branding was very much a vanity exercise by the Twitter Queen.

Allowing is to keep our VR(T) insignia was entirely possible in line with the SCC wearing Wavy Navy, but we were told it was impossible.

All the VGSs have their own version of that branding, along with (most) of their respective stations, 2FTS and CGS. It’s all in the 2FTS sharepoint, so presumably official.

I do think that sqns should be able to produce their own versions. It’s not like it would dilute the brand at all, they would still look identical to the current one to your average Joe.
